Pete Davidson Cheers for Ex Ariana Grande’s Oscar Hopefuls in Wicked
Pete Davidson expresses nothing but admiration for his ex-fiancée Ariana Grande as she continues to shine on the big screen.
“When we encounter each other, which is rare since we don’t run in the same circles, it’s all love,” Davidson, 31, shared with Page Six in an interview released on Friday, February 14. “I hope she wins an Oscar; I wish her all the best.”
Beyond her flourishing music career, Grande, 31, has garnered fantastic reviews for her role as Glinda in Wicked, which earned her a nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the 2025 Oscars.
“I’ve had some pretty mature relationships with some truly incredible women,” Davidson reflected, “and when they end, it’s been amicable.”
Davidson and Grande ended their engagement in October 2018, just four months after getting engaged. The Saturday Night Live star proposed after only a few weeks of dating.
Regardless of the various roles Davidson has landed or the quality of his sketches on SNL, he noted that the attention surrounding his personal life often overshadowed his professional achievements.
In his recent interview, Davidson described all the publicity as “humiliating and upsetting.”
“Everyone in Hollywood is dating everyone,” he commented. “Look at Paul Mescal, Timmy [Chalamet], Barry Keoghan. But due to my looks, I became the subject of media scrutiny. I faced harassment for about five years, and it turned my life into a nightmare. It’s frustrating because you want the focus to be on your work. I was one of the youngest cast members on SNL, yet all of that was ignored in favor of who I was dating.”
Over the years, Davidson has been linked to celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Kate Beckinsale, Phoebe Dynevor, and Margaret Qualley.
His latest relationship with Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline came to an end last summer.
Rather than focusing on dating, Davidson is concentrating on his career and maintaining his well-being after being candid about his journey with sobriety. He has also dealt with a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder and PTSD.
He continues to train with coach Chris Howard and recently displayed his fitness progress while modeling underwear for Reformation. Davidson is also set to appear in SNL50: The Anniversary Celebration, airing on NBC on Sunday, February 16.
“Currently, I’m not dating anyone,” he said. “I’ve spent the last six months focusing on my life. I’ve experienced half a year of positive living and hard work, and I understand that if you want to receive the treatment you desire, you have to put in the effort.”
