Post-Show Plans for Blue Bloods Cast: What’s Next with the Boston Blue Spinoff

The Blue Bloods cast is keeping busy with new projects following the unexpected conclusion of the popular CBS series.

Since its debut in 2010, Blue Bloods chronicled the lives of the Reagan family, with many members serving in the NYPD, led by NYC police commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck). Central to the storyline were Frank’s father, Henry Reagan (Len Cariou), and his children: daughter Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) and sons Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Jamie Reagan (Will Estes).

Following the announcement of Blue Bloods ending, Selleck shared his thoughts on why he believed the show should have continued.

“I’m kind of frustrated,” he told TV Insider in October 2024. “During those last eight episodes, I focused on its ongoing success rather than discussing an ending.”

He added, “I’m not going to become a grumpy old man insisting, ‘Get off my lawn.’ I don’t believe in holding grudges, but if you told the television network, ‘Here’s a show for your worst time slot that will guarantee Friday night dominance for 15 years,’ it would be hard to believe.”

Selleck expressed that his “frustration” stemmed from the show being “taken for granted due to its consistent performance.”

“So, how do I feel?” he reflected. “It’s going to take some time to process all of this. After wrapping up the final episode’s shoot, I thought, ‘I need to get to bed early because I have dialogue for Monday.’ But there was no Monday. It’ll take a while to come to terms with it.”

Two months after Blue Bloods aired its series finale in December 2024, CBS announced a spinoff, Boston Blue, which would see Donnie Wahlberg’s character take on a new role within the Boston P.D.

The cast of Blue Bloods has collectively expressed interest in reprising their roles, while some have already begun exploring fresh opportunities. Keep scrolling to discover what the cast has planned next — and what projects they had been involved in previously:
