Queen Camilla Unveils First Photo of Her New Rescue Dog, Moley
Queen Camilla beams with joy while snuggling with her new rescue pup, Moley.
The 77-year-old Camilla was spotted outdoors in a floral dress and purple cardigan, holding Moley close to her chest as she posed for a photo shared on Instagram on Sunday, May 18.
“Meet the playful Moley, The Queen’s newly adored canine companion, recently adopted from @Battersea, where Her Majesty is Patron,” the royal family’s official Instagram caption stated. “🌺 Tomorrow, The Queen will visit @The_RHS and @BBCRadio2 Dog Garden at Chelsea Flower Show.”
This garden, designed with dogs in mind, featured areas of grass for dogs to enjoy and a large tree for shade.
“The brick pathways are engraved with the names of dogs owned by Radio 2 presenters and RHS ambassadors, including Monty Don’s beloved dog, Ned, to highlight the cherished role of dogs in the nation’s hearts and gardens,” the caption noted. “The names of The Queen’s adopted Jack Russell Terrier, Bluebell, and her new puppy, Moley, will be included on the path, along with that of her adored dog Beth, who passed away last year.”
Additionally, Snuff — King Charles III’s dog — will be honored on the path. (Camilla and Charles, 76, were married in 2005, well before he became King.)
“The Garden for Dogs will continue beyond RHS Chelsea, at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home,” concluded the caption.
In February, Camilla revealed that she and Charles adopted a new dog following the November 2024 death of their Jack Russell terrier, Beth. (They rescued Beth in 2011, and added another Jack Russell named Bluebell to their family the following year, as reported by the Daily Mail.)
“I’ve just got a new puppy, who is 8 weeks old,” Camilla shared while petting an assistance dog in a video shared on X by the Daily Mail’s royal editor Rebecca English. “It’s a rescue dog named Moley — it resembles a mole.”
Moley was adopted from Battersea, an animal rescue organization in the U.K., where Camilla serves as a patron.
“We’re happy to confirm that Battersea has recently rehomed an 8-week-old Jack Russell terrier cross female puppy named Moley to our Patron, Her Majesty The Queen,” a spokesperson for Battersea informed the Daily Mail. “The Queen has been a long-time supporter of Battersea’s mission and has previously rehomed two rescue dogs from our charity.”
