Rihanna Reveals Baby No. 3 Update and Discusses Album Plans at the Met Gala
Rihanna recently provided an update on her current pregnancy, which she announced at the 2025 Met Gala on Monday, May 5.
“I’m good. I’m surprisingly feeling OK and not too overwhelmed right now,” the Grammy-winning artist, 37, shared with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art that evening. “Initially, it was kind of like, ‘Ah!’ I’m tired, but I’m also excited.”
When asked if this pregnancy would postpone the release of her eagerly anticipated ninth album, Rihanna humorously noted she might delay some visuals, but assured fans her vocals remain unaffected.
“No, maybe a few videos, but I can still sing!” she joked.
ET’s reporter inquired whether Rihanna and her partner, ASAP Rocky, had any exciting news, such as a potential secret wedding, but the pop star remained coy.
“No, girl, you know I keep secrets very well,” the Fenty Beauty founder replied.
Rihanna and Rocky, 36, are already parents to sons RZA, 2, and Riot, 21 months. Us Weekly confirmed on Monday that the “Umbrella” singer is expecting baby No. 3. Later that night, Rihanna officially announced the news with a photo shared by photographer Miles Diggs (a.k.a. Diggzy).
Rocky co-chaired this year’s gala, themed “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” with a dress code of “Tailored for You.” While he walked the museum’s iconic steps earlier, Rihanna made her entrance hours later, stunning in an elaborate Marc Jacobs outfit.
Before Rihanna graced the carpet, Rocky couldn’t help but praise his partner, telling the Associated Press, “It feels amazing, you know. It’s about time we show everyone what we’re working on. I’m glad everyone’s happy for us because we’re definitely happy, you know.”
In another interview, Rocky humorously declared that Rihanna is a notorious closet thief. “She’s a f***ing thief, man,” he playfully told Variety. “I’m gonna get her back! She steals all my favorite pieces, and I have to steal them back.”
When asked if there’s anything he’d like to take from her closet in return, he joked, “I already stole her heart, so I think I have plenty.”
Rihanna and Rocky have been friends for years before officially confirming their relationship in 2021. Last year, the “Diamonds” singer shared her desire for more children after welcoming RZA and Riot in 2022 and 2023.
“[I’ll have] as many kids as God allows,” she expressed in an April 2024 interview with Elle. “I’m not sure what God wants, but I’d aim for more than two. I’d love a girl. But if it’s another boy, then that’s fine too.”
