The British royal family continues to expand — and with every new member, Queen Elizabeth II’s legacy thrives.
The late monarch celebrated the arrival of eight grandchildren before her passing at age 96 in September 2022. While many royal enthusiasts are familiar with this generation, which includes Prince William and Prince Harry, it’s the queen’s great-grandchildren who still capture the attention of Us today.
Elizabeth’s first great-grandchild, Savannah Anne Kathleen, entered the world in December 2010 as the daughter of her daughter Anne, Princess Royal’s son, Peter Phillips, and his former spouse, Autumn. The eldest of this younger generation of royals became a big sister in March 2012 with the arrival of Isla Elizabeth.
Next came Prince George, born in July 2013! The firstborn son of William and his wife, Princess Kate, had everyone captivated from the moment he was born. At that time, the queen’s first great-grandson, George, was third in line for the throne. Once his grandfather King Charles III became king in fall 2022, he moved up to second in line.
