Sadie Sink Reveals Her Top Hair Care Rule
Sadie Sink has one non-negotiable when it comes to trends and choosing roles.
At 23, Sink shared insights about her remarkable copper hair in an interview with Glamour published on Tuesday, November 25.
“I’ve considered it, but I’ve never dyed my hair,” she revealed. “Anyone with red hair understands the highs and lows of that relationship.” She elaborated, “There are times when I think, ‘Yes, I adore my hair. It’s the best thing ever.’ And then there are moments where I think, ‘Oh my God, I despise it. I just want to change it.’”
The Stranger Things star remarked that growing up, every redhead hears, “never dye your hair.”
“I’ve never dyed my hair, and I don’t think I will,” she stated. “I appreciate the fact that my hair remains untouched.”
No matter what opportunity arises, Sink won’t change her hair color. Instead, she opts for wigs if a different look is necessary.
Another aspect she hasn’t altered is her ears. “I don’t have any piercings, tattoos, or anything,” she remarked. “I like the idea of keeping things as they are.”
Sink also reflected on how many Hollywood stars constantly transform, but she doesn’t see herself conforming to those trends.
“These days, it’s tough to overlook how people change their appearances and fashion; it all blends into the entertainment industry,” Sink shared.
She continued: “Growing up in that world and being an active participant sometimes leads to confusion because it’s like, ‘Wait, are we all supposed to look like this? Is this the desired look?’ I don’t want to follow that.”
Sink previously discussed her decision to chop her hair into a bob while talking to Refinery29 in 2023.
While she didn’t change her hair color, she mentioned that the cut was “for a role” — later identified as O’Dessa, a post-apocalyptic rock musical about a girl searching for a family heirloom in a perilous city.
“It felt right for the character,” Sink explained, adding that she wouldn’t have cut her long hair to shoulder length otherwise.
“Once it happened, I felt incredibly empowered by it,” she said. “Everyone associates me with long hair. It was always a significant talking point; my hair was a distinctive aspect of my identity. So to let go of that — especially after turning 21 and stepping into adulthood — that dramatic change felt thrilling.”
Sink expressed that the new look was not just “right” for her character, but it also resonated “right” with her personal journey. “It feels more like me. Plus, with the heat right now, it’s pleasant to have a foot less hair.”
In Stranger Things, Sink’s character, Max Mayfield, is typically seen with long, beachy waves or two braids, parted down the middle.
The final season of Stranger Things will be released in three parts, beginning with the premiere on Wednesday, November 26, at 8 p.m. ET. Subsequently, three more episodes will be available on Netflix on December 25, and the concluding episode will air on December 31.
