Selena Gomez’s $250K Unique Engagement Ring: Details on the Cut and More
Selena Gomez has a clear vision of what she wants — in a partner, as well as in her engagement ring.
On December 11, Gomez, 32, took to Instagram to showcase the stunning engagement ring that Benny Blanco presented to her during his proposal. This remarkable diamond features a marquise cut, beautifully set on a gold band embellished with additional sparkling stones.
According to Ann Grimmett, an expert and VP of Merchandising at Jared Jewelers, the main diamond is estimated to weigh six carats, with a value of $225,000.
Grimmett also pointed out to Us Weekly that Gomez’s ring is quite exceptional, noting that less than five percent of diamonds are cut in the marquise shape.
The marquise diamond dates back to the 18th century, originally designed upon the request of King Louis XV of France, who wanted a jewel reminiscent of his mistress’ lips.
Fans quickly noticed that the marquise cut may connect to Gomez’s 2015 hit “Good For You,” where she mentions this specific cut. This has led Us Weekly to speculate whether Blanco drew inspiration from her lyrics while ring shopping.
“I’m on my marquise diamonds / I’m a marquise diamond,” she sang in the song. “Could even make that Tiffany jealous.”
In her post, Selena also included a sweet selfie, radiating happiness as she held her hand up for the camera, subtly showcasing her engagement ring while sporting nude nail polish.
“Forever begins now,” Gomez captioned her announcement.
Fans and fellow celebrities quickly expressed their joy for Gomez in the comments of her announcement.
BFF Taylor Swift chimed in, saying, “Yes I will be the flower girl,” while Nina Dobrev, who recently got engaged to Shaun White, added, “YES !!!! Congratulations!!!!! So happy for you both!!!!” Other stars like Jennifer Aniston, Cardi B, Lily Collins, Ashley Benson, Gordon Ramsay, Suki Waterhouse, and many more extended their congratulations to her.
Gomez and Blanco’s story traces back to 2015 when they met while working on some of her biggest hits, including “Kill ‘Em With Kindness” and “Same Old Love.” Dating rumors reignited in July 2023, when they were spotted together at Gomez’s birthday party. By December, Gomez confirmed their relationship on social media, and they made their public debut as a couple a month later.
