Southern Charm’s Olivia Flowers Speaks Out About Canceling Her Wedding
Southern Charm alum Olivia Flowers opens up about her life following the decision to call off her wedding to fiancé Alex Williams.
“November may not have turned out as I envisioned… but it was still a memorable month because of these wonderful people,” Flowers, 33, shared on Instagram on Wednesday, December 3, accompanied by a collection of photos from the last month.
She also reflected on several “takeaways” from the past 30 days, emphasizing that having a “support system is everything” and that “it’s okay to take a moment for yourself.”
Her insights also subtly referenced her relationship status, stating, “You can call off a wedding without ending a relationship,” alongside, “Returning registry gifts builds character.”
The post featured a carousel of images and clips showcasing Halloween celebrations, sumptuous meals, beautiful sunsets, cozy movie nights with friends, and what appeared to be an emotional group hug.
Williams was included in the collection as well. One photo captured him smiling while navigating a boat, and another showed the couple enjoying an evening walk, with his hand tenderly resting on Flowers’ neck.
Fans of the reality star quickly expressed their support in the comments section of her post.
“Congrats on your bravery to live authentically,” one commenter wrote, while another noted, “It’s better to call it off than face a divorce later—trust me. I wish I had that courage.” A third comment read, “You are incredible and so inspiring. Thank you for sharing your journey.”
Flowers and Williams, 35, revealed in October that they were canceling their wedding plans after getting engaged a year earlier.
“After much reflection and heartfelt discussions, Olivia and Alex have made the tough choice to not move forward with their wedding,” a statement released through Cabine Creative and Flowers’ Instagram noted. “This was not a decision made lightly, but one rooted in mutual respect and love for each other.”
The statement highlighted that calling off the wedding wasn’t what either Flowers or Williams “initially envisioned,” yet they were “deeply thankful for the love and support from their friends and family” and aimed to “stay committed to each other with a renewed sense of clarity, strength, and gratitude for honoring one’s heart.”
After meeting at a wedding in October 2023, Flowers revealed that Williams had recently proposed.
“‘Engagement photos are cheesy.’ — Me … just a week ago,” she captioned a series of Instagram pictures from their proposal in October 2024. “It was perfect. Thank you all for this unforgettable proposal… WHAT?! I love you, especially you, Alexander.”
She later confided to Us Weekly that the wedding planning journey felt “overwhelming.”
“We’re just savoring our engagement bliss for now,” she admitted at that time, adding that they had “barely scratched the surface” of what needed to be addressed.
Before her relationship with Williams, Flowers was involved with Southern Charm costar Austen Kroll. She joined the Bravo series for season 8, with the couple’s breakup being a major storyline in season 9. She did not return for season 10, suggesting that her departure was not fully her choice but rather a decision to keep her relationship private.
“I have this new relationship, and I’m choosing a different path,” she shared in a July 2024 episode of the “Scheananigans with Scheana Shay” podcast. “But I received a call a few weeks before filming from the production company, asking about my absence from Charleston.”
