Sydney Sweeney Dazzles in Chic Silver Dress on the Red Carpet

Sydney Sweeney certainly knows how to make a stunning entrance.

The 28-year-old actress wowed attendees in a sheer silver gown at Variety’s Power of Women event on Wednesday, October 29. She flashed a warm smile while gracing the red carpet, opting for minimal jewelry and neutral makeup. Her blonde locks were elegantly styled in a straight bob with a side part.

Sweeney unveiled her stylish new hairstyle at the AFI Fest premiere of her film Christy on Saturday, October 25. Her platinum waves were softly curled and parted in the middle, complemented by a head-turning pastel-pink Miu Miu halter dress.

She kept the curly hairstyle while attending the World Series game at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Tuesday, October 28.

Sweeney’s colorist, Jacob Schwartz, mentioned in a recent interview with Vogue that the Anyone But You star was “eager for a change.”

She “wanted to create a bold hair moment for the red carpet to promote her new film, Christy,” he explained earlier this month. “It felt like the ideal opportunity to do something daring.”

In the meantime, her long-time hairstylist, Glen Oropeza, noted that after Sweeney’s significant transformation for her role as boxer Christy Martin in the upcoming biopic, which releases on November 7, he aimed to create an updated version of her persona. He wanted to give her a fresh look as the year comes to a close.

Sweeney gained 30 pounds for the role, revealing to Vanity Fair in September that her body underwent significant changes during filming.

“I couldn’t fit into any of my clothes,” she recalled. “I usually wear a size 23 in jeans, and I had to wear a size 27. My bust got bigger, and my butt got huge. It was wild! I was like, ‘Oh, my God.’”

She expressed pride in her transformation, describing the film as an “incredible” experience.

“I felt incredibly strong, like unbelievably strong,” she exclaimed with enthusiasm.

As she promotes Christy, Sweeney is fully embracing her glamorous image. In an interview with Variety published on Monday, October 27, she shared, “I often play very polarizing characters, and while many think they know me, they really don’t. So when people say, ‘Oh, she’s a sex symbol,’ or ‘She’s playing into that,’ I reply, ‘No, I just feel good, and I’m doing this for myself because it makes me feel strong.’”

Sydney Sweeney was overwhelmed with emotion during the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Christy. “Christy, you are absolutely incredible, and I’m so honored. I’m gonna cry! Oh my God, you’re so inspirational,” Sweeney, 27, shared on Friday, September 5, according to Variety. “Having you by my side during this has been…”

She went on to say, “I hope to inspire other women to embrace their confidence, flaunt what they have, and feel great because there’s no need to apologize, hide, or cover up in any situation.”

In an interview with Glamour UK around 2023, Sweeney shared that she used to feel self-conscious about her larger chest during high school and had considered getting a breast reduction when she turned 18.

However, her mother, Lisa Sweeney, convinced her against the surgery.

“My mom said, ‘Don’t do it. You’ll regret it in college.’ I’m so thankful I listened. I love them. They’re my best friends,” she expressed.
