Sydney Sweeney Responds to Allegations of Cosmetic Surgery
Sydney Sweeney is prepared to tackle the rumors regarding her alleged cosmetic surgery.
“Let’s debunk them all. I mean, I have never gotten work done,” Sweeney, 28, stated during a joint interview with The Housemaid co-star Amanda Seyfried for Allure. “I am so scared of needles, you have no idea.”
Seyfried suggested that cosmetic procedures can be “really effective once you get older,” but Sweeney reiterated that she’s “too scared of needles.” She then addressed those who compare her photos from her younger days to her current appearance as a means to “prove” she’s had work done.
“You cannot compare a photo of me from when I was 12 to one of me at 26 with professional makeup and lighting. Of course I’m going to look different,” Sweeney remarked. “Everybody on social media’s insane.”
Sweeney assured Seyfried, 40, that she would “call” her if she decides to explore cosmetic surgery.
“You gotta call me, and I’ll give you a little bit of Ativan, and you’ll be so excited. But you don’t need it yet,” Seyfried responded, to which Sweeney remarked, “No. Also, if I did, you guys, my face would be even.”
While Seyfried appeared puzzled and inquired if Sweeney’s face is “uneven,” the Anyone But You star revealed a childhood wakeboarding accident that required 19 stitches — resulting in one eyelid opening “a little more than the other.”
“I still don’t see it, but there’s an art to it,” Seyfried clarified. “You can’t just get it everywhere, like a lot of people do. You don’t need it.”
Sweeney has been open about her body over the years, stating in September 2023 that she strives to be her own role model.
“I look up to the older version of myself,” she explained to Women’s Health at the time. “As a child, I admired the 25-year-old version of me, and now I look up to my 50-year-old self. I hope to make decisions that she would be proud of.”
She added, “Whenever a new challenge arises and I’m not afraid to push myself, that’s when I feel proud of who I am. I know my body can keep going — it’s more about overcoming that mental hurdle. I apply that mindset to skiing, acting, and everything I do because, at the end of the day, it’s mind over matter.”
Two years later, Sweeney revealed she gained over 30 pounds for her role as Christy Martin in a biopic.
“I loved it,” she expressed in W Magazine in June. “I came onboard to portray Christy, and I had about three and a half months of training. I started eating properly, weight-trained for an hour in the morning, kickboxed for two hours in the afternoon, and weight-trained again at night.”
As she weight-trained, Sweeney mentioned she had to shop for a new wardrobe.
“I didn’t fit in any of my clothes,” she noted. “I usually wear a size 23 in jeans, and at that time, I was wearing a size 27. My chest grew larger. And my butt became huge. It was wild! I thought, ‘Oh, my god.’”
