Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir Sport Matching Birkins
Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir are truly inseparable.
On Tuesday, March 10, during an episode of the “Chicks in the Office” podcast, Lipinski, 43, and Weir, 41, showcased their coordinating Hermès Birkin bags. A clip shared on TikTok featured the Olympic ice skaters displaying their ivory purses as they shared the story behind their matching designs.
“Funny story,” Weir started. “I’ve been collecting for a while and I adore Birkin bags — it’s the only item I consider an investment. If I ever need cash, they’re there.”
With a chuckle, he added, “It’s an investment! I don’t part with them, though.” Weir elaborated, “Skating is hugely popular in Japan, and I had an Hermès [sales associate] in the Ginza store. I was picking one up during the Tokyo Olympics, and Tara was with me.” He noted Lipinski wasn’t yet “into” Birkin bags, to which she replied, “I thought, ‘This is a huge purchase.’ It felt overwhelming.”
After entering a back room where Lipinski witnessed “the process” of viewing Birkin bags, her interest was piqued.
“Wow, this is so fancy,” Lipinski reminisced. “They brought out chocolates, and I was like, ‘Oh my goodness!’” The former competitive figure skater then informed the sales associate that she wanted a “matching” Birkin bag to Weir’s.

Weir mentioned that the store in Japan only receives a “limited” supply of bags in “specific colors.” The cream shade chosen by both was a “seasonal color.”
“My guy managed to find [another] one. There were only about six of this color in the entire country,” Weir remarked.
Fans quickly admired the duo’s twinning moment in the comments.
“It’s giving ‘that’s my best friend, go best friend’ 💙,” one fan commented, while another wrote, “ICONIC BESTIES.” A third added, “OK iconic.”
On the same Tuesday, Lipinski and Weir also showcased their matching outfits via Instagram. In a reel, they spun their Birkins while adorned in ivory ensembles.
“It started with matching outfits…now we’re just becoming the same person. It’s even better this way,” Lipinski captioned their post.
