Tarek El Moussa and Heather El Moussa humorously suggested that Ant Anstead might be looking to revive his romance with Christina Haack—even while he’s dating Renée Zellweger—after assisting her in her victory on The Flip Off.

In the episode airing on Wednesday, February 26, Christina, 41, expressed her joy over her recent success in the challenge.

“That’s what happens when you rig games,” Tarek, 43, joked, prompting Christina to retort, “I didn’t rig anything. I can’t control what [Ant] does.”

Heather, 37, mentioned that there seemed to be “flirting” between Christina and Ant, 45. Tarek had a different opinion, stating, “I think he’s just trying to win you back.”

Christina Haack and Ant Anstead’s reunion on-screen allowed them to openly discuss their complex relationship history. After her divorce from Tarek El Moussa, Christina, 41, found love with Ant, 45. The couple married in 2018 and welcomed their son, Hudson, a year later. However, they decided to part ways in 2020, finalizing their divorce the following year.

Christina disagreed with both Tarek and Heather. “No, I think he’s just envious of our relationship [and] that he got excluded from the group chats,” she quipped.

Viewers were surprised when Ant made a guest appearance on The Flip Off, three years after their divorce was finalized. He seemed initially neutral but eventually indicated he would always choose Christina.

“You and I will be connected forever because we have a child, so ultimately I have to support the mother of my kid,” Ant explained earlier this month. “It’s not something you may want to hear, but it means Christina and I are on the same team forever. Hence, this judge is biased, and she’s on my side, which means you guys lose.”

Christina and Ant fell in love after her split from Tarek. They got married in 2018 and welcomed Hudson the following year, but by 2020, they decided to separate, completing their divorce the next year amidst a custody battle over their son.

“Ant and I separated when Hudson was one, and now he’s five. Between his first and fifth birthdays, our communication was minimal,” Christina explained. Meanwhile, she began dating Josh Hall, and Ant started his relationship with Zellweger, 55.

Christina attributed her 2024 split from Josh, 44, as a catalyst for re-establishing her connection with Ant.

“After my breakup with Josh, I went to Ant’s house to pick up Hudson, and he gave me a huge hug. We hadn’t hugged in years, and he said, ‘I’m truly sorry for everything you’re facing, and I’m here for whatever you need,’” she recounted. “It was a lovely moment, and we ended up having an extensive conversation. We agreed to set aside all the drama and focus on being good co-parents.”

Later in Wednesday’s episode, Christina shared her struggles regarding her breakup with Josh: “While construction is underway at my flip, I have to tackle some real-life issues. I own a house in Tennessee where Josh and I spent a lot of time, but with everything happening, I realized it’s time to retrieve my belongings from there.”

Christina was taken aback by how tense the situation ended up being.

“It’s insane. He wants to retire off me,” she expressed while talking to a friend on the show. “Had I known the consequences of all this, I would have secured a prenup or never married him.”

Christina added that she was eager for the divorce to be finalized. “He believes everything is his, even though I purchased it before our marriage,” she said. “He’s just planning to take it all.”

She continued: “He keeps making me these proposals that are increasingly confusing. It’s baffling why someone would try to take advantage of me, especially when he has not had to work for several years. The last offer he made was ridiculous—and the next one was even worse.”

Josh previously criticized mentions of him on the show after leaving one episode prematurely. “TFW you can’t garner enough ratings with celebrity 🏠 designers, so you fabricated drama with me, a nobody. @hgtv, you’ve changed,” he wrote on Instagram in January. Christina replied on her Story, “Manufactured?! Pretty sure no one at HGTV told you to be rude to me… that was all genuine.”

The Flip Off airs on HGTV on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET and can be streamed on Max and Discovery+ on the same day.
