Teddy Swims Jokes That His Pregnant Girlfriend ‘Fooled’ Him Into Going to Therapy
Teddy Swims and his partner Raiche Wright are preparing to welcome their first baby.
In anticipation of their new arrival, Swims (whose real name is Jaten Collin Dimsdale) shared during an appearance on the “Kyle & Jackie Show” on Thursday, March 20, that the couple is prioritizing their relationship by attending couples therapy.
“I’ve been doing therapy now, man. My girl and I, as we’re about to have a baby, we started doing therapy together too. Just preparing ourselves for the best communication and all that,” Swims, 32, shared with hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie “O” Henderson.
He added: “I’m in therapy. I’ve done therapy, and it’s been fantastic. Individual therapy and couples therapy. We’re going all out.”
Swims disclosed that it was Wright, 29, who initially proposed the idea of attending therapy.
“Being the strong woman she is, she suggested couples therapy when she found out she was pregnant,” Swims explained. “She said, ‘We should start couples therapy together to ensure our communication is strong.’ Not because there are issues, but to improve.”
Swims then joked: “And before I knew it, a few weeks later, I found myself in individual therapy with a therapist, and I was like, she tricked me into therapy.”
The “Lose Control” artist and Wright first shared their pregnancy news via an Instagram post in January.
“We can’t wait to meet you, baby,” Wright captioned a photo of the couple at the beach, prominently showcasing her baby bump.
During the interview with “Kyle & Jackie O,” Swims discussed how he and Wright are preparing for the baby’s anticipated arrival on June 15 of this year.
“I’m taking off all of April because my baby is due in June. We’re currently in the process of buying a house in Nashville, so I have time to set up everything and build our home,” he stated. “And I took off all of June. I postponed several commitments to ensure I could be there for the birth and be present throughout June and July.”
Swims also expressed why he prefers not to raise his child in Los Angeles, choosing instead to build their family in Nashville.
“I’m originally from Georgia, so Nashville is only a four-hour drive away from Georgia. I can still work there and buy land. Plus, I worry about my son growing up in LA; I just think if my kid is a private school LA kid, he might turn out spoiled,” Swims commented.
He further stated, “I want to be no more than four hours from my parents so they can visit us on weekends. I want my child to grow up with a Southern upbringing, saying, ‘Yes ma’am, no sir,’ and all that good stuff.”
