Testaments Trailer Features June’s Child at the Forefront of Gilead Uprising

The Handmaid’s Tale spinoff The Testaments is igniting another revolution in Gilead — and the official trailer reveals that June’s daughter is at the forefront.

On Thursday, March 5, Hulu shared the first look, featuring Chase Infiniti as Agnes, previously known as Hannah.

“I’m not sure what year it was. I remember I still had my dollhouse. It looked just like our real house,” Agnes narrates over a backdrop of “Dreams” by The Cranberries. “Some dolls were always busy. Others did the important work. One doll was a little girl. That’s me.”

The sneak peek suggests that the scenes are from the past, with Agnes reflecting, “Back then, we believed in this world. I guess it’s easier to accept the story than to believe that the people around you are monsters.”

Agnes’ journey in Gilead takes a turn when Daisy (Lucy Halliday) arrives at their school, overseen by Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd).

“I imagine Canada is very different from here. It makes me wonder, what did you come here for?” Agnes queries Daisy, who appears to have hidden motives.

Aunt Lydia, on the other hand, seems committed to restoring “women to their rightful place,” yet not everyone supports Gilead’s mission as a revolution begins to unfold.

“There comes a time when action is necessary. But you have to forge your own destiny,” Agnes hints. “We had no idea what we were capable of. It was time for us to make a change.”

Based on Margaret Atwood’s book of the same name, Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale is set in a dystopian future where low fertility rates lead to women being assigned to men for childbearing. The series aired from 2017 to 2025.

The Testaments, set to premiere on April 8, takes place 15 years after the book (and three to four years after the show). Dowd’s Aunt Lydia narrates as viewers return to the dystopian future. Agnes and Daisy take on the roles of “Pearl Girls” to infiltrate Canada, aiming to smuggle damaging information about Gilead’s regime, with Aunt Lydia acting as a covert informant within Gilead.

Alongside Infiniti, Halliday, and Dowd, The Testaments features a cast that includes Eva Foote, Rowan Blanchard, Kira Guloien, Amy Seimetz, and Brad Alexander. The ensemble is rounded out by Birva Pandya, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Mattea Conforti, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Mabel Li, and Isolde Ardies.

Creator Bruce Miller previously discussed the series’ relationship with Atwood’s book The Testaments, indicating that “it’s not going to track precisely” to the source material.

“Margaret crafts these wonderfully specific characters,” he told TVLine in 2022. “We had to diverge from that in Handmaid’s, and we’ll have to do the same with Testaments. Testaments will certainly be a sequel to the show.”

Recently, The Handmaid’s Tale showrunner Yahlin Chang hinted at the setup for the spinoff, sharing with TV Insider in March 2025 that the sixth season of The Handmaid’s Tale resolved certain plot points “in some very satisfying ways.”

“For any fans who are left wanting more, they are going to get that with The Testaments, which is exciting for them,” Chang noted. “But it does conclude many storylines in a satisfying manner, although not every single one.”

The Testaments is set to premiere on Hulu April 8.
