The Bachelorette will not be airing a season this summer.

Us Weekly has reported that ABC has opted not to broadcast the beloved dating series, which usually begins in July each year.

Although the network has not officially canceled the reality program, and it could potentially return in the future, Us notes that it seems improbable for The Bachelorette to be back by 2025, though the possibility remains open. The reasons behind the show’s pause are not currently known.

This isn’t the first occasion a program from The Bachelor franchise has been sidelined. In 2024, Bachelor in Paradise was skipped in favor of airing The Golden Bachelorette. The last hiatus for The Bachelorette was during its 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Even though Bachelor in Paradise did not film its 10th season last year, ABC has assured fans of its return this summer.

“We’re heading back to the beach in 2025! 🌴#BachelorInParadise,” ABC shared on Instagram during July 2024.

Bachelor in Paradise first premiered in 2014, featuring former contestants from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette seeking a second chance at love in Mexico.

The Bachelorette season 21 participant Jonathon Johnson is reported to have received an invitation to participate after his attempts to win over Jenn Tran proved unsuccessful.

During a January appearance on the “Lightweights” podcast, Johnson, 28, stated that he won’t be sliding into DMs prior to heading to Mexico and remains open to possibilities.

“I know that in the past, reaching out to people has caused issues. I want no drama, I want no negativity hanging over me,” he stated. “I don’t want any pressure before I get to explore things myself.”

He mentioned, “If someone is excited to meet me, and they’ve said so, that’s great. I would be happy to chat with them. My goal is to approach this with an open mind and start fresh.”

ABC’s 2024-2025 fall primetime lineup includes expanded episodes of the Golden Bachelorette set for Wednesdays — yet Bachelor in Paradise is distinctly missing. This reality dating program typically premieres in August or September. Season 9 of BiP launched in September 2023 and concluded that December. Its return date remains uncertain, although three couples left the beach in […]

In October 2024, Bachelor in Paradise host Jesse Palmer hinted at what viewers can expect when the spinoff finally returns.

“I’m aware of some of the innovative ideas being discussed. There are numerous elements from the Bachelor universe being incorporated this time around,” Palmer, 45, relayed to Us. “It seems like a mix of the familiar alongside some new concepts. I’ve really missed those beach days this past year. Wells [Adams] and I recently talked about how eager we are to go back. So, I’m looking forward to that moment. I genuinely hope there’s some sort of Gold edition as well.”
