The Future of The Kelly Clarkson Show Unveiled Amid Cancellation Speculation

The fate of The Kelly Clarkson Show has finally been clarified following rampant speculation about the NBC program possibly concluding.

A spokesperson for the daytime talk show confirmed on Monday, January 26, to Entertainment Weekly that online rumors were unfounded. They dismissed the “rumor” while highlighting that the show’s producer and distributor, NBC, “will communicate directly if there are any updates regarding the show.”

They emphasized, “We are not even halfway through season 7!”

The Kelly Clarkson Show made its return for season 7 in September 2025 with a “Kellyoke” rendition of The Weeknd’s popular track “Blinding Lights.” The show also introduced new segments that focused on inspiring stories.

Clarkson’s opening monologue highlighted the theme of “finding the light and shining it on those who are making a difference” within their communities. Alex Duda, the show’s executive producer, later elaborated on the new segments: “Life Well Lit” and “Celebs With Skills.”

“In tough times, [it’s that] old Mister Rogers saying: ‘You look for the helpers.’ And that’s what we always aim to do,” Duda told EW during that period. “That’s why our premiere this year was all about returning to that idea of finding the light. Clarkson has always expressed that this helps her, and we hope it resonates with our viewers as well.”

Since its debut in 2019, The Kelly Clarkson Show has emerged as a considerable success for NBC. The show reached an audience of 2.3 million viewers during its 2024-2025 season, prompting a renewal from the network.

“Kelly Clarkson is a national treasure. We couldn’t be more excited to announce another season of The Kelly Clarkson Show, especially after the highly-rated Christmas in Rockefeller Center that she hosted,” stated Tracie Wilson, executive vice president of Syndication Studios and E! News at NBCUniversal, in a 2025 interview with Deadline. “There’s a demand for talk shows that entertain and inspire, and The Kelly Clarkson Show is a shining star that delivers for our stations and connects with audiences across various generations in meaningful ways.”

NBCUniversal chairman Valari Staab also commended Clarkson, 43, for her efforts to “raise the bar in daytime television” in a separate statement to Deadline.

“The show’s steady viewership, engaging content, and high production quality have made it an essential part of our programming lineup across NBC-owned channels,” Staab noted. “We’re thrilled about its ongoing popularity and success.”

Clarkson briefly stepped away from The Kelly Clarkson Show due to her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock’s struggle with skin cancer. He passed away at the age of 48 in August 2025. The former couple were married from 2013 to 2022 and have two children: daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remington “Remy” Alexander, 9.
