Tiger Woods Shares His Unusual Starbucks Drink Order Following Golf Match
Tiger Woods shared details about his distinctive coffee preference after a journalist spotted him with a large plastic Starbucks cup.
After the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) event between Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club and Boston Common Golf on January 27, he was questioned by TGL reporter Claire Rogers regarding his beverage choice.
“That coffee you brought in, was it a Frappuccino?” she inquired. “What were you drinking on your way in today?”
“Yes, it was!” Woods, 49, confirmed. “It was a Frappuccino with three shots, indeed.”
Woods added espresso shots to what seemed to be a Venti-sized Frappuccino, a blended ice beverage typically consisting of coffee, ice, flavoring, and whipped cream. The specific flavor of Woods’ Frappuccino remains undisclosed.
Rogers’ followers were amused by the unexpected question posed to one of the sport’s legends. “This is the hard-hitting journalism I crave,” commented a viewer on the video. “Claire really digging for the important details.”
Another user humorously noted Woods’ reaction, implying he might have felt awkward about his drink choice. “The way he mentioned three shots felt very defensive,” one viewer quipped.
Woods’ love for Frappuccinos is a relatively recent development, at least compared to a 2020 interview with GOLFTV. In a discussion with host Henni Zuel, Woods stated that his preferred Starbucks order was “a grande, nonfat, double shot hazelnut latte.” When Zuel reacted to his choice, Woods laughed and said, “I know, stop.”
Regarding TGL, the newly established golf league was introduced by Woods and Rory McIlroy earlier this month. The Monday evening match featured Woods’ team — along with teammates Tom Kim, Max Homa, and Kevin Kisner — defeating McIlroy, 35, and his Boston Common Golf teammates Keegan Bradley, Hideki Matsuyama, and Adam Scott 4-3 in overtime.
The league consists of six teams competing in a specially designed indoor venue, the SoFi Center, located on the campus of Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth Beach, Florida.
“It couldn’t have been a more enjoyable display of golf [and] banter,” Woods told reporters post-match. “Everyone in the audience was engaged. Hopefully, all the viewers were as well. We, as players, loved it. This is the experience we envisioned for TGL, and I think we delivered it.”
Even though his team faced defeat, McIlroy was equally enthusiastic about the league’s performance so far.
“It’s been fantastic to hear that a younger audience is really connecting with it,” McIlroy stated. “That’s an awesome development. One of our goals at the outset was to engage that younger demographic and offer them a digestible version of golf that they could enjoy and comprehend. Hopefully, we’ve succeeded in that.”
TGL’s 15-match regular season will continue through March 4, followed by the playoffs later that month.
