Tim and Demi-Leigh Tebow Unveil Name of Their Firstborn
Shortly after revealing their first child’s name, Tim Tebow and Demi-Leigh Tebow are opening up about the meaning behind their newborn daughter’s name.
“We’ve been eagerly waiting to share this news,” the delighted parents posted on Instagram. “Introducing our daughter, Daphne Reign Tebow ❤️”
According to Demi-Leigh, “Daphne has been a name dear to my heart since childhood.” The former beauty queen shared that she “never had the chance to meet my mother’s mother, but her sister, Daphne, became like a grandmother to me.”
Demi-Leigh described her great-aunt Daphne as “an incredibly special person to both my mom and me,” referring to her as “a petite, kind-hearted and resilient South African woman who always had shortbread available,” emphasizing that she “embodied both grit and grace, cherished Jesus, possessed a heavenly voice, and made everyone feel valued and important.”
“I used to tell my mom, ‘I aspire to be like Ouma Daphne someday,’” Demi-Leigh, 30, added alongside more snapshots of their daughter, who was born on Sunday, July 6.
“I have cherished this name since I was a kid, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve always said that if I had a daughter, I would name her Daphne.” Fortunately, Tim, 37, shared her enthusiasm for the name as well, Demi-Leigh noted.
“Right after Tim and I tied the knot, I expressed this wish to him, and thankfully, he loved the name just as much as I did!”
The couple also elaborated on the meaning behind Daphne’s middle name, Reign.
“It’s a name that carries profound significance,” the proud mother explained. “It is inspired by a precious young girl whom Tim and I have cherished for years.”
Demi-Leigh shared that this little girl’s “journey has impacted our hearts in ways I can’t fully articulate. But above all, her name serves as a reminder that when you’re embraced by God’s family, you become a child of the King. You were meant to reign—not through power, but with love, purpose, and identity.”
“So here she is—our daughter. Our answered prayer. Daphne Reign Tebow—created in God’s image,” Demi-Leigh summed up in her social media post. “Royal as His princess. Our greatest prayer for her is to thrive in God’s purpose for her life.”
Many fans, including actress Candace Cameron Bure, expressed their love for the name Daphne, with Candace commenting, “Beautiful!💖”
Earlier on Monday, July 7, Demi-Leigh showcased black and white photos of her new family of three from the hospital.
The new mother shared her gratitude towards the medical team who “supported us wonderfully during my labor and delivery.”
“Our daughter has arrived! We are immensely grateful for the blessing and gift of this new life,” she continued.
