Tim Tebow Calls Fatherhood ‘Incredible’ After Welcoming Daughter Daphne
Tim Tebow has wholeheartedly embraced the role of fatherhood just months after celebrating the arrival of his first child with his wife, former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Tebow.
“It is incredible; it’s one of life’s greatest blessings,” Tim, 38, shared with TMZ Sports in a feature released on Wednesday, November 5.
Tim and Demi-Leigh introduced their newborn daughter, Daphne, through an Instagram post on July 7. Demi-Leigh explained in her caption that Daphne is named after her aunt, who “served as a grandmother figure to me.”
“She held such significance for both my mom and me,” Demi-Leigh penned. “A little, kind, and resilient South African lady who always had shortbread at home. She embodied grit and grace, loved Jesus, had the voice of an angel, and made everyone feel valued and special.”
Demi-Leigh also disclosed the inspiration behind Daphne’s middle name, Reign.
“It’s a name filled with significance,” she wrote. “It’s inspired by a dear young girl whom Tim and I have cherished for years. Her journey has profoundly impacted our hearts in ways I can’t adequately express. More than anything, her name serves as a reminder that when you’re welcomed into God’s family, you become a child of the King. You were created to rule and reign — not through power, but in purpose, love, and identity.”
The family has consistently updated their followers on Daphne’s early months, sharing the day they brought her home from the hospital and commemorating various milestones.
“I want her to always know that she is cherished and invaluable to God,” Tim expressed. “That is something she will always understand.”
Four months into fatherhood, Tim hinted that he might be a bit sleep-deprived, but he fully appreciates everything that comes with being a dad. When asked about the biggest challenge, he noted, “Just trying to do everything to keep her safe.”
As a two-time national champion quarterback from the University of Florida, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner went on to have a three-season NFL career before pursuing baseball. Currently, he serves as a college football analyst for ESPN.
“Studying for SEC Nation looks a bit different this year,” he quipped on Instagram in August, sharing a video of himself studying with Daphne sound asleep on his chest.
And for Florida fans curious about his coaching future, Tim expressed satisfaction with his current role, even as speculation surrounded him regarding the vacant Gators coaching position.
“You need to find someone who can rally the [fans] and restore Gator Nation to its desired state,” he mentioned during an October segment on SportsCenter. “Additionally, it’s crucial to recognize that they aren’t far from success. This is a Florida team with a solid defense and a talented offense. The cupboard isn’t bare, but you must select someone who can truly connect with the players in a time when transferring is so easy — and they have a great opportunity to do that.”
