Timeline of Delays in Nicole Curtis’ HGTV Show Rehab Addict Prior to the Scandal
Nicole Curtis’ HGTV series Rehab Addict faced delays and programming challenges prior to its cancellation due to a racist slur controversy.
Rehab Addict debuted on the DIY Network in 2010 before transitioning to HGTV in 2014. Season 9 began with two episodes airing in June 2025 but was abruptly halted without explanation.
This pause coincided with network scheduling changes that led to the cancellation of five shows: Battle on the Beach, Farmhouse Fixer, Married to Real Estate, Bargain Block, and Izzy Does It.
“I made the executive decision to shelve the remaining new shows until fall. I appreciate your support and understanding for the late notice,” Curtis shared on Instagram then. “It takes a lot of my personal time to get a show ready, and my family and I felt — why miss out on summer when we can do this in the fall?”
After teasing fans about a return for months, Rehab Addict was anticipated to return in February 2026. However, on the same day it was set to premiere, RadarOnline released footage of Curtis using a racial slur during a renovation project for the series.
“There’s more to this story, but my family is my priority, and I need to be a mom right now more than anything else,” Curtis stated on Instagram Stories following the show’s cancellation. “I’ll continue to be transparent and honest with you. TMZ reached out just as I turned my phone back on after school—there’s more to explain …”

Season nine of Rehab Addict premiered in June 2025, but only two episodes were aired. My Lottery Dream Home then took its place, which Curtis addressed.
“Thank you to those at HGTV who were open to our suggestion. I’m truly happy with this decision, as I spent the day with a dead phone and no worries,” Nicole wrote on Instagram. “They are airing Lottery Dream Home in my place. Fun fact: [Lottery Dream Home host] David Bromstad was my pregnancy beach buddy while we filmed in Gulf Shores, Alabama, for Beach Flip. … So, don’t spread rumors about him replacing me — it was my choice.”

Nicole Curtis spoke out regarding her show being replaced after only two episodes.
“I made the executive decision to shelve the remaining new shows until fall. I appreciate your support and understanding for the late notice,” she posted on Instagram. “It requires a lot of hours (my hours) to get a show on air, and my family and I thought — why sacrifice summer when we can do this in the fall?”

Nicole Curtis responded to questions about when — and if — Rehab Addict would return, writing on Instagram, “So, last Tuesday, I received the classic Grama Fay text, ‘Where the hell is the show?’ I can’t believe I forgot to tell her.”
Curtis joked that her grandmother was as disappointed as fans about the changes.
“Now, the secret is she has viewed virtually all of my rough cuts, but her 80-inch TV makes her want to see the final product,” she commented. “I spent a weekend in my hometown, where she, at 88 years young, spent the whole time on the boat with me. We experienced a massive thunderstorm right before this picture, which makes for a great story!”
Curtis noted she hadn’t “selected a new airdate yet” after Rehab Addict was pulled. She also mentioned that the first two episodes of season 9 are available for streaming on HBO Max, alongside the rest of the series and other specials like Rehab Addict Lake House Rescue, Rehab Addict: Detroit, Rehab Addict Rescue, and Beach Flip.

Nicole Curtis explained why the show has yet to return to air. “I hear you – IT’S FALL!!! I promised you episodes this fall. It’s still fall,” she wrote on Instagram. “I had a great network call today, and I received the same question — where are the shows? I recut them.”
December 11, 2025
“The show is coming back in Feb on HGTV – yes!” Nicole Curtis announced on social media, acknowledging that fans were “over waiting” for the show’s return. “I just want these episodes to air so I can check that box. So, if you need to catch up on any of the 115 episodes of Rehab Addict, they are all streaming online.”
January 19, 2026
Nicole Curtis humorously acknowledged the ongoing delay of the remaining Rehab Addict episodes. She wrote on Instagram, “You will have an airdate when I return,” adding, “Yes, on HGTV, yes, it’s still Rehab Addict, and yes, I KNOW I SAID FALL — but in my defense, I never mentioned Fall of 2025. (That’s the lawyer in me).”

“Straight from Detroit — the new episodes drop Wednesday … I was told now or never — so you’re getting them now,” Nicole Curtis shared on Instagram. “And can you do me a huge favor by sharing this? Send it to friends, tag a friend, a stranger ❤️.”

After a video of Nicole Curtis using a racial slur surfaced, HGTV confirmed that the show had been pulled. (The incident was captured on camera but did not air when the episode first premiered in June 2025.)
“HGTV was recently made aware of an offensive racial comment made during the filming of Rehab Addict. Not only is language like this hurtful and disappointing to our viewers, partners, and employees, but it does not align with the values of HGTV,” HGTV stated to Us Weekly. “Accordingly, we have removed the series from all HGTV platforms. We remain dedicated to fostering a culture of respect and inclusion across our content and workplace.”
Warner Bros. Discovery eventually pulled the rest of the planned new episodes from HGTV’s schedule and removed past episodes from HBO Max and Discovery+.
