Tom Sandoval Hints at His Upcoming Live Performance on America’s Got Talent
Tom Sandoval and the Most Extras are set to perform live on America’s Got Talent.
Following a standout audition that wowed all four judges, Tom Sandoval and his band are dedicated to putting on a live show that will earn America’s votes.
“It’s going to require a lot of hard work and passion,” Sandoval, 43, told Us Weekly ahead of their performance on Tuesday, August 19. “Watching people pour their hearts into a performance truly inspires me.”
On June 24, judges Mel B, Howie Mandel, Sofía Vergara, and Simon Cowell were captivated by the band’s audition and their rendition of A-ha’s “Take On Me.”
When America’s Got Talent launches its live shows for season 20, Sandoval and his band will tackle The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.”
“I’m a huge enthusiast of ‘80s music, so it’s hard not to want to perform an ‘80s song again,” shared Sandoval with Us. “[However], I want to showcase the variety of songs we play. While we do perform ‘Take on Me,’ we also explore deeper cuts that you wouldn’t typically hear from regular cover bands.”
Despite receiving four “yes” votes from the judges to move on to the live shows, Cowell cautioned the former Vanderpump Rules star that his “vocals weren’t great.”
Nonetheless, Sandoval expressed his willingness to accept honest feedback and criticism, and he’s prepared to put in the effort needed.
“It’s been an educational journey. I’ve been working with vocal coaches and am committed to improving,” he commented regarding Cowell’s critique. “For Simon to say that—he’s heard some of the best singers out there. Clearly, there’s room for improvement in my vocals.”

This season, the champion of America’s Got Talent will receive a $1 million prize.
While the thought of securing the most votes on finale night thrills Sandoval, he remains focused on enjoying the journey.
“I’m just grateful to be a part of this,” he told Us. “I feel fortunate to participate among such incredible acts and talent. Everything beyond this point is truly a bonus.”
Sandoval added, “We’re committed to giving our best, having fun, and being ourselves. Ultimately, it’s in America’s hands.”
America’s Got Talent live shows start on NBC Tuesday, August 19, at 8 p.m., with results airing on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Catch past episodes anytime on Peacock.
