Topher Grace Claims That ’90s Show Surpasses a High School Reunion
Topher Grace truly enjoyed reconnecting with his former That ‘70s Show co-stars on the 2023 spinoff, That ‘90s Show.
“I had an amazing time doing that show,” Grace, 47, shared exclusively with Us Weekly during a joint interview with his wife, Ashley Hinshaw, at the Art of Elysium’s Heaven gala on Tuesday, November 11. “I only participated in the pilot with Ashton [Kutcher], Mila [Kunis], Laura [Prepon], Debra Jo [Rupp], and Kurtwood [Smith]. Spending a week together was even better than any high school reunion.”
Even though he only made an appearance in one episode of the Netflix series, Grace expressed that it was wonderful that “everyone got back together and got to hang out” after so many years apart.
“We had a blast, and now everyone has kids,” he told Us. “Wilmer [Valderrama] even came that week, despite being in a different episode. It was a fantastic time … such a lovely group of people.”
Grace was part of the main cast of the Fox sitcom That ‘70s Show, which aired from 1998 to 2006. The series followed a group of six teenage friends — Grace, Kunis, 42, Kutcher, 47, Prepon, 45, Valderrama, 45, and Danny Masterson — living in the fictional town of Point Place, Wisconsin, during the years 1976 to 1979.
Almost 17 years later, That ‘90s Show debuted in 2023, set twenty years after the original series. The Netflix show featured Callie Haverda as Leia Forman, the teenage daughter of Eric Forman (Grace) and Donna Pinciotti (Prepon). Although the new series took place in the same fictional town, it primarily focused on Leia’s summer with her grandparents, Red (Smith) and Kitty (Rupp), as she navigated adolescence in the ‘90s.
That ‘90s Show was canceled in October 2024 after two seasons.
Since his time on That ‘70s Show, Grace has starred in various projects, including the comedy series Home Economics from 2021 to 2023 and films like 2014’s Interstellar, 2018’s BlacKkKlansman, and 2024’s Heretic.
In addition to his acting career, Grace is also busy with his family. He married Hinshaw, 36, in 2016, and the couple welcomed their daughter Mabel in 2017, followed by two other children, whose names are still under wraps, born in 2020 and 2022 respectively.
Thirteen years later, the couple celebrated the anniversary of their first meeting at the Art of Elysium Heaven Gala hosted by Lee Daniels at the Rosewood Miramar in Montecito, California, on Tuesday.
“We actually met at the Heaven Gala 13 years ago,” Grace revealed to Us, with Hinshaw adding that their meeting anniversary is a “real anniversary” worth celebrating.
The event is organized by a nonprofit focused on healing and inspiration—values Grace believes are essential to instill in himself and his children.
“We are big fans of Lee Daniels. I can’t believe he’s the visionary this year,” he expressed. “It’s similar to being an actor; when you sign on to a movie, your first question is often, ‘Who’s the director?’ Learning that it was him tonight, I thought, ‘He’s a genius.’ … I believe the closest thing to Heaven is seeing the world through the eyes of a child, and the second is having kids and seeing it through their perspective.”
