Tori Spelling Backs Dean McDermott in Hallmark’s Polar Opposites

Tori Spelling continues to support her estranged husband Dean McDermott amid their divorce proceedings.

“We are incredibly proud of him,” Spelling, 51, stated through her Instagram Story on Saturday, January 11. “We definitely could use some joy right now. Tune in to see @iamdeanmcdermott in his new film Polar Opposites airing on Hallmark tonight.”

Polar Opposites debuted on Saturday as part of Hallmark’s “Winter Escape” lineup. The movie features Rhiannon Fish as illustrator Emma, who secretly boards a cruise to Antarctica alongside engineer Andy (Markian Tarasiuk) to assist her ailing father, portrayed by McDermott, 58, who is conducting research in the icy region.

Married since 2004, Spelling and McDermott separated in 2024 after 19 years together. They are parents to five children and McDermott also has a son, Jack, from a previous relationship.

Despite the challenges faced during their marriage, including Spelling’s recent divorce application, sources reveal their relationship remains amicable. “Tori and Dean are still on friendly terms,” a source told Us Weekly after Spelling’s divorce filing on March 29. “They have been a part of each other’s lives for so long…”

Recently, Spelling and her children had to evacuate their Los Angeles home due to the ongoing wildfires.

“This is a post I never wanted to make… After several days of witnessing destruction and living in fear,” Spelling shared on Instagram on January 10. “I refrained from posting earlier as I didn’t want to add to the saturation of social media with tragic news. However, last night we faced evacuation.”

She expressed, “I held on as long as I could, but ultimately had to make the tough choice. My heart goes out to everyone who has experienced loss. As a protective mother of five and several pets, intuition guided my actions.”

Spelling successfully relocated her children, along with their pets, to safety.

“Friends were advising me for days to prepare and have a contingency plan. I regret not heeding their warnings,” she recounts. “I managed to squeeze us in with almost no belongings—only important photo albums came along as we evacuated. … Thanks to @airbnb, we found immediate refuge for our large family and pets.”

She reassured her followers that her family is “doing fine.”

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott have remained in the spotlight due to their tumultuous beginnings. When they first crossed paths in 2005, McDermott was married to Mary Jo Eustace, the mother of his son Jack, while Spelling was wed to Charlie Shanian. “It was love at first sight. I was smitten right away… then I discovered he was still attached to someone else…”

“We consider ourselves fortunate,” she expressed. “It felt like a spectacle I’ve seen too many times. Luckily, we are safe. I woke up to a koi pond view and a peaceful butterfly sanctuary. Thank you, Dad!”

Tori is the daughter of Candy Spelling and the late Aaron Spelling, whose Los Angeles estate was also impacted by the wildfires.

Recently, a series of wildfires erupted in the Pacific Palisades and neighboring areas, destroying thousands of acres. Authorities have reported at least 16 fatalities, and many residents have been forced to evacuate under both mandatory and voluntary orders.
