Travis Kelce Breaks Chiefs All-Time TD Record as Taylor Swift Misses the Game

Taylor Swift was absent from the stands when Travis Kelce returned to the football field as the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, November 16, missing the chance to witness her fiancé make Chiefs history.

The pop superstar, 35, opted not to travel to Empower Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver for the game — a predictable decision as she has yet to attend any of her fiancé’s away games during the 2025-2026 NFL season so far.

Kelce, however, made headlines by setting the Chiefs’ all-time touchdown record during the game, scoring his 84th career TD in the fourth quarter, giving his team a 19-16 lead with just over 8 minutes left. (It was only the third career touchdown Kelce has ever recorded at Mile High Stadium.)

Kelce had tied the record during a Monday Night Football game against the Washington Commanders — a record previously held by NFL legend Priest Holmes.

The Sunday clash between the Chiefs and the Broncos was crucial for Kelce, 36, and his teammates as they entered the game with a 5-4 season record. The Broncos led their shared AFC West division with an 8-2 record, while the Chiefs were outside the AFC playoff positions before the two teams met on Sunday.

Taylor Swift has cherished being the girl in the bleachers throughout her growing romance with Travis Kelce. Swift made her first appearance at a Kansas City Chiefs game in September 2023, watching them defeat the Chicago Bears from the Kelce family’s private suite. Alongside the tight end’s mother, Donna Kelce, she cheered for Travis.

Swift’s most recent attendance at a Chiefs game was when the team triumphed over the Washington Commanders at home on October 27. Following a disappointing loss to the Buffalo Bills on November 2, the Chiefs enjoyed a much-needed bye week.

Travis chose not to disclose his bye week plans during the November 5 episode of their “New Heights” podcast, despite being prompted by his brother, Jason Kelce.

“For the next week, at least take your mind a little elsewhere,” Jason, 38, encouraged. “What are you doing? Anything fun [or are] you getting into any travel? What are you doing over the week? Tell us about your personal life.”

Despite Jason’s attempts, Travis was unyielding.

“No, no,” he responded. “Obviously, you set goals at the beginning of this season to win the division, win the conference [and] secure that home field advantage, making everyone come through Arrowhead. Right now, it’s just not that.”

Travis stressed that during his week off, he would remain focused on the team’s objectives and what they needed to do to succeed against the Broncos.

“I’m not thinking about [the playoffs yet],” he stated. “I’m focused on how the f*** we’re going to beat the Denver Broncos? That’s going to occupy my mind for the next two weeks.”

Despite Travis’ insistence on work during the bye week, he still managed to carve out time for a couple of date nights with Swift in New York City. The couple — engaged since August — was spotted at The Polo Bar on November 5 and Zero Bond on November 6.

While Swift and Travis enjoy a few public outings together, they are equally content simply spending time at home.

“Taylor and Travis are really chill,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in October. “On a typical night in, they’re casually having dinner and figuring out what to stream. It’s very domestic and calm.”

While their New York date nights attract paparazzi attention, they are just like any other couple behind closed doors.

“Taylor and Travis are super simple,” another insider disclosed. “People expect glam when they visit them, but it’s the total opposite. Sometimes they’re in sweats, eating takeout. It’s not what you’d expect.”

Regarding their upcoming wedding, the plans are “coming along,” according to a second source. “They are both [very] involved, and Taylor thinks it’s adorable that Travis wants to help.”

Meanwhile, the first insider informed Us that Swift and Travis “don’t want a long engagement” as they “very much want to start a family in the next year or so.”
