TV Shows Canceled in 2026-2027: Which Series Won’t Be Renewed?

2026 has been harsh when it comes to the cancellation of our beloved shows.

Netflix severed its connection with Boots just two months after its premiere. Based on Greg Cope White‘s memoir, this scripted series depicted Cameron (Miles Heizer) joining the U.S. Marine Corps with his best friend Ray (Liam Oh) during the 1990s, during the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” era concerning LGBTQ+ service members.

Cameron had to conceal his sexuality while navigating boot camp alongside Slovacek (Kieron Moore), Hicks (Angus O’Brien), Nash (Dominic Goodman), John (Blake Burt), Cody (Brandon Tyler Moore), and Ochoa (Johnathan Nieves).

Before its cancellation, Boots achieved significant success on the platform, doubling its weekly viewership and ranking No. 2 on Netflix’s TV charts.

Over the years, Netflix has brought to its audience a variety of distinctive TV shows — yet not every original series is fortunate enough to extend their narrative beyond one season before facing cancellation. Julie and the Phantoms quickly gathered a devoted fanbase when it debuted on the streaming service in September 2020. The musical comedy was based on […]

Another significant cancellation was Prime Video’s Hotel Costiera. Premiering in September 2025, the show followed former Marine Daniel (Jesse Williams) as he worked as a fixer at a luxury hotel, while also on a quest to find the owner’s daughter.

“I lost 13 pounds shooting this show while eating pasta and bread constantly,” Williams shared with Us Weekly at the time. “I often hear that story — people visit from Europe to America and immediately fall ill while eating organic [food in the U.S.], as it’s a different experience. I was fortunate in that regard.”

He continued: “I initially thought I’d need to be very strict with my diet. But I believe the exhaustion from filming helped me maintain my weight. Also, the unfortunate truth is that it’s not America; real ingredients don’t cause bloating or inflammation as much.”

Hotel Costiera allowed Williams to truly dive into Italian culture.

“Language is a significant barrier. I learned a bit, and after being there a few months, I could engage in the first two-thirds of a conversation. I surprised people by navigating expressions and discussions,” he told Us. “Moving through Rome — especially Naples — made me feel the love and respect that the city reciprocates.”

Williams recounted moments when he felt more at home, saying, “There were definitely instances in restaurants where I met people who recognized me. When they heard me speaking Italian, it surprised them completely, and they welcomed me warmly. I had a very nice reception.”
