TV Shows Renewed for 2026-2027: Which Series Are Coming Back?
2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year for television — but which shows are confirmed to return for additional seasons?
Paramount+ caught fans off guard by renewing Landman for a third season before the conclusion of season 2. Based on the “Boomtown” podcast series, Landman delves into the West Texas oil industry, spotlighting crisis executive Tommy Norris and his family. The show, which debuted in 2024, features Billy Bob Thornton as the corporate fixer for an oil industry giant.
The premiere of Season 2 in October broke viewership records for Paramount+, garnering over 9.2 million streaming views within the first two days. This represented a significant increase compared to the premiere of season one, making it the most-watched premiere for any original series on the platform.
Boston Blue on CBS is another series set for a longer run. In December 2025, the network announced that both the Blue Bloods spinoff Boston Blue and the Fire Country spinoff Sheriff Country were renewed for their second seasons.
President of CBS Entertainment Amy Reisenbach remarked, “The two new shows on Friday night have become immediate favorites, with viewers quickly embracing Boston Blue and Sheriff Country across both broadcast and streaming.” She noted that these early renewals highlight the strength of character-driven storytelling, riveting plots, and the remarkable talent involved in creating these series.
A press release indicated that Sheriff Country has been averaging 7.6 million viewers, consistently winning its Friday night time slot at 8 p.m. Meanwhile, Blue Bloods has attracted 8 million viewers, maintaining a winning streak in total viewership every Friday night.
