Unexpected’s Bella Vaughn, 15, Reveals Boyfriend Was Just 12 When She Became Pregnant
Unexpected star Bella Vaughn, 15, has shed light on the timeline regarding her pregnancy.
Vaughn, a cast member in the upcoming season 7 of the TLC reality series, recently posted a video on TikTok where she addressed rumors about her family, pregnancy, and more. One of the key topics was the notion that she and her boyfriend Hunter, 13, are not legitimate parents due to their age.
“Being a teen doesn’t make me any less of a mother. I am a mother. I carried that baby for almost 10 months. Hunter is a father,” she stated.
Additionally, Vaughn clarified that Hunter was 12 when they conceived their son, Wes, but celebrated his 13th birthday shortly afterward. She also addressed rumors that raised questions about the consensual nature of their relationship.
“I understand it doesn’t improve the situation. I know he was ready sooner than I was, and that’s fine, but I was ready when we had sex,” she explained. “Please stop saying it was illegal and that I raped him because I didn’t. It was consensual on both sides, and we have discussed this with the authorities.”
Vaughn continued, “I did not ruin Hunter’s life. When I found out I was pregnant, I gave him a choice. I said, ‘If you can’t handle this or don’t want to be involved, that’s okay. I can manage on my own or with you; it’s your call. Whatever you decide is fine with me.’ He chose to stay and care for our baby.”
She also dispelled rumors that she and her family have “glorified” teen pregnancy.
“Nothing is being glorified. If you look at my mom’s TikToks, we talk about how difficult it is and that we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone,” she added. “The show Unexpected illustrates the challenges, the arguments, and how inconvenient it can be. It’s not about glorifying teen pregnancy. I’m not advocating for it.”
In the video, Vaughn defended her parents, assuring fans that her pregnancy was not a result of poor parenting.
“My parents are wonderful and have always supported me,” she remarked. “They help me care for my child. I knew the difference between right and wrong; I just made a mistake. If you’re not a teen parent, you might not understand.”
Details about Vaughn and Hunter’s relationship and parenting challenges were highlighted in the first trailer for Unexpected season 7, which Us Weekly unveiled on January 13.
“I don’t want him to struggle in the eighth grade,” Bella’s mom, Falen, told her in the video.
Bella echoed her concerns, telling Hunter, “I don’t want him to be a tenth grader dating an eighth grader. We’ve got a toddler.”
Unexpected season 7 is set to premiere on TLC Monday, February 16, at 9 p.m. ET.
