Vanessa Kirby Welcomes First Child with Paul Rabil
Vanessa Kirby has become a mother!
The Fantastic Four: First Steps star, 37, has welcomed her first child with former lacrosse player Paul Rabil, as revealed by the athlete in an Instagram post on Sunday, October 19.
Rabil, 39, shared several images of their newborn on Sunday, including a heartwarming moment with the baby resting on his bare chest. Another photo captured Kirby lying next to the baby on a bed, while a close-up of the tiny foot was also featured.
The slideshow concluded with a picture of two lacrosse sticks.
“I’m discovering that parenthood slows you down while waking you up simultaneously,” the athlete-turned-executive remarked in his post. “I’m incredibly thankful for everyone’s health, for waking up every day to the immense love of mum, and for having you in our lives now.”
“For your first cradle stick. It’ll hold countless stories and blessings. Probably some broken windows too. Balls are allowed in the house 🤍,” Rabil wrote in his caption.
The couple has not yet revealed the baby’s name or sex.
Kirby confirmed her pregnancy when she showcased her baby bump at a Fantastic Four: First Steps red carpet event at the CCXPMX Film Festival in Mexico City in May.
A month later, Rabil addressed the news in an Instagram post, stating, “Some news…life’s greatest adventure is about to begin. We’re really grateful for your love and support, especially the advice. Mum’s a superhero. I’m just so lucky,” alongside a photo of Kirby’s baby bump.
The pair first sparked romance rumors in October 2022, with Rabil confirming their relationship more than a year later in a November 2023 Instagram post featuring photos of them together. “From the very moment we first met in Des Moines, traversing the globe and back, life is significantly better, more meaningful, and more beautiful with you ❤️,” he expressed.
In July, the Crown actress shared her experiences of wearing a prosthetic baby bump for the latest installment of Marvel Studios, mentioning it was heavier than her actual bump.
“I genuinely believe many people think it’s some kind of stunt. It’s just a wild coincidence,” Kirby remarked about her real-life pregnancy.
“Essentially, the fake belly is like a foam piece. When it’s just foam, it feels very light and somewhat ridiculous. I kept asking Flick, who manages my costume, ‘I want more. It has to be heavier,’” she recounted in a July episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers.
“We tried numerous materials, and eventually, she added heavy rice packets inside the prop, which made it so heavy that I ended up with severe backache,” she recounted, according to People. “In reality, it’s nothing like this. My actual pregnancy bump is way lighter. So I gave myself back pain for no reason.”
Kirby starred alongside Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, portraying Sue Storm, also known as the Invisible Woman. She is set to reprise her role in Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release in December 2026.
