If you’re like Us, you’ve always been curious about the experience of using celebrity hair extensions.

Zendaya, Ayo Edebiri, Jessica Alba, Peyton List, Elsa Hosk, and Ashley Graham are just a few of the stars who have embraced and adored Covet & Mane’s hair extensions. While it’s well-known that extensions can add instant volume and length, how comfortable are they in reality? Us Weekly’s Assistant Editor Grace Riley tested out Covet & Mane’s tape-in extensions and is here to share her experience.

I had the extensions applied by celebrity stylist Lilybeth Vargas in November 2024 and immediately fell in love with my new look. With my naturally thick hair, she used three rows of extensions to ensure everything blended beautifully. Unlike standard tape-in extensions, which typically come in smaller wefts, Covet & Mane features a unique design that involves a row of hair taped directly to your head for a more seamless finish.

By the end of my first day with the extensions, I did notice they felt a bit heavy on my head. I was aware of their presence when lying down, but they weren’t uncomfortable. By the next morning, I had adapted to the weight and was able to sport the same bouncy curls Vargas had styled for me.

Zendaya can definitely rock any hairstyle. On October 16, the 28-year-old took to Instagram to showcase her new crimped Covet & Mane extensions while modeling for the sportswear brand On, which she also represents. Her golden hair blended perfectly with her waist-length extensions, which […]

The following day, I went for a run and took Vargas’ advice to style my hair in two braids instead of a ponytail. Dividing my hair into two sections made my workout feel less strenuous, as a ponytail can sometimes pull and add tension, making my neck feel heavier while jogging.

When it was time to wash my hair, I found myself using more products than usual, but the thickness of my hair didn’t add too much to my shower routine. I aimed to wash my extensions just once a week as Vargas suggested, but if my crown felt greasy, I’d occasionally wash just that section.

Initially, styling the extra length presented a challenge since my natural hair only reached my chest. I adapted by styling my hair the night before events to save time in the mornings — and I also got better at using a curling iron!

Over these past few months, I’ve received more compliments on my hair than ever before. Strangers have approached me to say my hair looked “so pretty,” and whenever I meet my friends, they can’t resist running their fingers through my hair and raving about how fantastic it appears. There’s something about having this much hair that gives you an instant glamour boost. It has made me feel like the most confident, empowered version of myself – complete with stunning hair.

If you’re prepared to put in the effort to maintain the extensions and are willing to slightly adjust your routine, I would wholeheartedly recommend extensions to anyone.
