What Happened in the Series Finale of Suits LA After Surprising NBC Cancellations?

Suits LA has concluded after just one season — did the series finale leave a good impression?

In the finale that aired on Sunday, May 18, Ted (Stephen Amell) rejoined forces with his former partner Samantha (Rachelle Goulding) to confront a formidable — but risky — producer. This collaboration also set the stage for a merger between Ted and Samantha’s law firms, following their earlier disagreements in the season.

Additionally, Rick (Bryan Greenberg) and Erica (Lex Scott Davis) made strides in their relationship, as Erica finally chose to give Rick a chance. Meanwhile, flashbacks in the finale unveiled how Ted’s father played a role in the tragic death of his brother, Eddie (Carson A. Egan).

The conclusion of Suits LA is as gratifying as it could be, especially after NBC decided to cancel the series earlier this month. The network surprised fans by not renewing Lopez vs. Lopez, Night Court, Found, The Irrational, and Suits LA.

Since then, NBC has renewed The Hunting Party and Brilliant Minds, with these two being the only new shows to survive their first seasons, along with Grosse Pointe Garden Society, still uncertain of its fate. These tough calls followed the network’s 11-year agreement with the NBA.

Suits LA premiered in February as a spinoff developed by NBC after renewed interest in the original Suits series was sparked following its addition to Netflix and Peacock. Set in a fictional corporate law firm in New York City, the original Suits chronicles the journey of associate lawyer Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) as he works alongside Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht). This legal drama aired from 2011 to 2019, focusing on Harvey and Mike as they navigated lawsuits and concealed Mike’s secret of not attending law school.

NBC’s latest iteration featured Amell, Davis, Greenberg, and Josh McDermitt as attorneys navigating rivalries within Los Angeles law firms. The brief spinoff also saw the return of Macht and Rick Hoffman from the original series before its conclusion.

Ted initially hesitated to collaborate with Samantha on a class-action lawsuit against a powerful Hollywood producer. However, the two managed to overcome their differences. Ted enlisted the help of Elizabeth (Sofia Pernas), which unsettled his other romantic interest, Amanda (Maggie Grace).

When Amanda realized Ted was standing up against the producer who had previously assaulted Rosalyn (Azita Ghanizada), she changed her perspective. Ted concluded the series on a positive note, having reconciled with everyone in his life after agreeing to merge with Samantha and Stuart’s (Josh McDermitt) firm.

He also came to terms with his past, remembering how his brother, Eddie, died in an explosion intended for Ted. Their father had made a choice — thus leading to a rift with Ted.
