Netflix’s latest competitive reality series, “Million Dollar Secret,” appears to be the platform’s response to “The Traitors.”
Similar to “The Traitors,” this show takes place in an opulent estate — this time set against the backdrop of a scenic lakeside mansion in Kelowna, Canada, instead of a Scottish castle.
Instead of identifying a traitor, the participants of “Million Dollar Secret” must discover the lone millionaire among them. The show involves manipulation, uncovering secrets, and engaging in physical tasks, such as chiseling ice from glaciers and being pursued by a hound (no kidding).

What are the rules of ‘Million Dollar Secret’?

The concept is quite straightforward: One of the 12 participants is designated as the “millionaire,” and the others must deduce who it is.
The millionaire is apparently selected at random. Upon arrival at the estate, contestants select a key from host Peter Serafinowicz, which grants access to a separate room.
Out of the chosen rooms, eleven contain empty boxes, while one holds a million-dollar prize.
Daily, the contestants participate in challenges that provide them with hints to discover the millionaire. Each evening, they congregate around a dinner table to vote on who they believe is holding the prize. The contestant with the most votes faces elimination. If they correctly identify the millionaire, the prize is redistributed to another remaining contestant; if they fail, the millionaire survives for another round.
Additionally, the millionaire has their own covert agenda that they can complete to gain an edge during the eliminations. However, they need to be cautious, as the other contestants are on the lookout for any peculiar behaviors that could expose them.
