What Life Is Like for Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Post-Divorce
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have ended their nearly two-decade-long marriage. What do their lives look like following the divorce?
“Their schedules have remained the same throughout their marriage,” a source tells Us Weekly exclusively. “There’s nothing new or different in that regard that has caused them to drift apart.”
Both Urban, 57, and Kidman, 58, are currently concentrating on their respective careers, the insider notes. The country singer has been on his High and Alive World Tour since May, with upcoming performances for his Las Vegas residency. He is also busy collaborating with Gretchen Wilson and Blake Shelton for the CBS reality show The Road.
“He is constantly on the go,” the source explains regarding Urban’s hectic schedule. “He’s been touring since June and spent August in Australia.”
Kidman, on the other hand, is juggling numerous projects while remaining present for her children. (Kidman and Urban share teenage daughters Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14. The Oscar winner is also the mother of Isabella, now 32, and Connor, 30, whom she adopted with ex-husband Tom Cruise.)
“Nicole has consistently managed to excel at work while being actively involved in her children’s lives,” the source remarks. “She’s at the pinnacle of her career, yet still a devoted working mom prioritizing her kids. Her schedule is unparalleled among working actors.”
In recent years, Kidman has appeared in hit TV series like Big Little Lies (which has officially been greenlit for a third season), Nine Perfect Strangers, and The Perfect Couple. She also starred in the upcoming 2024 films Babygirl and A Family Affair. Earlier this year, her film Holland premiered, and she recently completed production on Practical Magic 2 alongside Sandra Bullock.
Urban and Kidman’s busy schedules contributed to their separation, as they were “moving in two different directions,” according to the insider who spoke to Us.
“Nicole had been trying to salvage their marriage and wished to keep this situation private. She hadn’t confided in many friends about their issues and kept her struggles hidden for months,” the source explains. “Both have been spending considerable time apart due to work commitments, leading to separate lives. She and Keith were not aligned.”
Us confirmed on Monday, September 29, that Kidman and Urban have separated after 19 years of marriage. The couple wed in 2006 after meeting the year before.
Just one day after their split was reported, Kidman filed for divorce. According to court documents obtained by Us, Kidman cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the dissolution and requested to be named the “primary residential parent” of the couple’s daughters.
The documents also included a marital dissolution agreement, which was signed by both Kidman and Urban. This agreement outlined a parenting plan, child support arrangements, and a “parenting seminar order.” Both agreed to keep their assets and waived their rights to spousal support and child support, although the divorce paperwork specified that Urban has “prepaid all child support obligations.”
As per the submitted plan, Sunday and Faith will reside with Kidman for 306 days out of the year, while Urban will have them for 59 days, including every other weekend. The ex-spouses agreed to collaboratively make all major decisions regarding their children. In cases where they cannot agree on a major decision for either child, Kidman will hold the “final decision-making authority,” according to the agreement.
