What Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Shanola Hampton Revealed About Sir and Gabi’s Romance in Found
With Netflix streaming Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Shanola Hampton’s Found, fans are re-igniting their passion for a tumultuous on-screen romance between characters Sir and Gabi.
Found, which debuted in 2023, follows public relations expert and crisis manager Gabi Mosely (Hampton) and her dedicated team as they strive to locate missing individuals overlooked or forgotten by law enforcement.
While the series primarily spotlighted the cases themselves, it also delved into the intertwined fates of Gabi and Sir. The NBC show set the stage by introducing Gabi kidnapping Sir in the present, while flashbacks reveal that Sir had kidnapped Gabi when she was a teen.
NBC decided to cancel the show in 2025 after two seasons, leaving fans without a clear resolution regarding Sir and Gabi’s future. Fortunately, Gosselaar and Hampton shared their thoughts on the fictional romance prior to the series finale:
Shanola Hampton Acknowledges the Intrigue Between Sir and Gabi on Found
“The truth is I can see [the intrigue] because there is chemistry,” Hampton shared with Us Weekly in April 2025. “We expect a man and a woman having chemistry to mean a romance. What happened was Mark-Paul and I naturally developed this chemistry without any predetermined plans. No one knew how to categorize [what they saw] because we love our roles, but we often need categories to make sense of things.”
She added: “Audiences often struggle to process their emotions. … I believe that’s what makes the show unique. It’s essential for viewers to witness how their relationship evolves.”
Mark-Paul Gosselaar Discusses His Approach to Acting
“You know, [our chemistry] is something that just naturally occurred — it wasn’t something we tried to create. It’s always been like this,” he told Us in March 2025. He mentioned that both he and Hampton “got lucky” in their roles. “Sometimes, it’s not necessary to personally like someone to have on-screen chemistry. Thankfully, that isn’t the case for us; we genuinely enjoy spending time together, and I consider [Shanola] a close friend. That camaraderie shines through during our performances.”
Mark-Paul Gosselaar Defines the Dynamics of Their Relationship
During an interview, Gosselaar specified that “there’s nothing sexual about” Sir’s feelings for Gabi.
“As I mentioned, the narrative is crafted this way. Thus, when I deliver my lines, I focus on Sir’s profound affection for Gabi and his love for her,” he elaborated. “When he sees her, she brings light into his life. She represents something essential that he craves. It certainly helps that Shanola is an exceptional person and a talented actor.”
He concluded with, “As actors, we should be capable of creating chemistry with anyone. Perhaps when you see us together off-set, you notice that we genuinely enjoy each other, and that might be interpreted as similar to our characters’ dynamic on screen. But I believe Shanola is such a skilled actress that she could establish that chemistry with nearly anyone.”
Shanola Hampton on “Not Holding Back” the On-Screen Chemistry
“We wouldn’t hold anything back. It developed naturally and continues to grow,” Hampton told Us exclusively. “Everything we do is authentic; I don’t rehearse scenes with Mark-Paul. What you see is the genuine product.”
She emphasized that there’s a certain synergy that “just works” between her and Gosselaar, stating, “If we attempted to hold back [while filming], it would come off as forced. Characters need room to breathe, and as actors, we also need that space to deliver our best.”
Shanola Hampton’s Suggestions for Sir and Gabi Fans

“To all those out there shipping Sir and Gabi, ladies [you should strive for] better for yourselves. Serial kidnappers are not aspirational. Gabi deserves more,” she quipped in April 2025.
