What Time Will ‘Squid Game’ Season 2 Be Available on Netflix?
Let the competition commence.
A fresh season of the acclaimed dystopian series “Squid Game” is set to debut on Netflix the day after Christmas.
“Squid Game” Season 2 will resume three years after the events of the first season, with the games promised to be “as nefarious as ever,” according to Netflix’s Tudum blog.
Returning to the fray is Player 456, Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae), who will confront a new wave of challengers competing for the staggering prize of 45.6 billion won — this time, his goal is to end the deadly games for good.
According to director Hwang Dong-hyuk, Gi-hun will undergo a transformation in the upcoming season, as he shared with Entertainment Weekly in September.
“In season 2, viewers will not see the naive, clumsy, or childish version of Gi-hun from the start of the series,” Hwang stated. “Instead, a significantly darker, more complex side of him will be revealed.”
Several familiar faces will return from the first season, including Front Man (Lee-Byung-hun), Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun), and the Recruiter (Gong Yoo), as confirmed by Netflix.
The new season will also introduce several new cast members, including South Korean boy band artist Yim Si-wan, “When the Camellia Blooms” star Kang Ha-neul, and “A Good Day to Be a Dog” star Park Gyu-young.
When the inaugural season of “Squid Game” launched in September 2021, it shattered records to become Netflix’s largest series debut ever, attracting 111 million subscribers within its first month.
The series amassed a staggering 330 million viewers, who collectively watched 2.8 billion hours of content, as reported by Variety earlier this month.
