Who is Alexis Stone? Makeup Artist Claims Transformation Into Jim Carrey
Alexis Stone, the makeup artist celebrated for transforming himself into some of the world’s most iconic stars, is currently stirring up internet speculation.
Fans are questioning whether Jim Carrey truly made an appearance at the 51st César Film Awards, or if it was actually Stone in disguise, after the special effects artist announced he had achieved one of his most mind-blowing transformations yet.
Stone has become a hot topic on social media since fans remarked that the actor appeared noticeably “different” while attending the red carpet in Paris on February 26, 2026, igniting theories of body doubles and even clone conspiracies. Many noticed that his eyes seemed to be a lighter hue. Additionally, he signed autographs with his right hand, whereas Carrey is generally believed to be left-handed (though he has been spotted using his right hand in various fan-shared clips).
“Yeah…umm NO! This is NOT Jim Carrey! Jim Carrey has dark brown eyes, for one…this clone/impersonator has light eyes,” remarked one user on X. Another commented, “It’s not Jim Carrey; it’s an impersonator,” while others have begun connecting the incident to Carrey’s quip about the Illuminati on Jimmy Kimmel Live! back in November 2014.
On March 1, 2026, Stone entered the conversation via an Instagram post, asserting that he disguised himself as the celebrated actor during the 2026 César Film Awards, sharing a photo of a prosthetic face mask and fake teeth with the caption, “Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris.”

Alexis Stone Has Attended Public Events in Full Prosthetics
Stone has previously executed similar stunts, like transforming himself into Lana Del Ray in January 2024 during Paris Couture Fashion Week at the Jean Paul Gaultier x Simone Rocha show.
He also donned prosthetics and a wig to portray the The Devil Wears Prada character Miranda Priestly in 2024, completing the look with a stylish outfit.
Before that, Stone transformed into Jocelyn Wildenstein at Balenciaga’s 2022 show.
The social media star discussed his beginnings in a Platform feature story, saying, “I lived with trans women for about ten years and was always around the magic and trauma of that. There was something magical about sleeping during the day and coming to life at night that naturally progressed into drag.”
“But prosthetic-wise, I never studied,” Stone admitted. “I left school when I was 16 and moved to London. I just taught myself everything.”
The César Awards and His Rep Said the Real Jim Carrey Did Attend the Event
“Jim Carrey’s visit has been planned since this summer,” stated Gregory Caulier, general delegate for the César Awards, in a statement to Variety on March 2, 2026, dismissing the rumors as a “nonissue.”
“From the outset, he was genuinely touched by the Academy’s invitation. There were eight months of productive discussions, and he worked on his speech in French for months, consulting me about the exact pronunciation of certain words,” Caulier elaborated.
“He came with his partner, his daughter, his grandson, and 12 close friends and family members. His longtime publicist was with him, and his old friend Michel Gondry, who has collaborated with him on both films and series, was present, and they were thrilled to see one another again.”
His longtime publicist, Marleah Leslie, also informed TMZ, “Jim Carrey attended the César Awards, where he accepted his Honorary César Award.”
