Whom Will Grant Ellis Select?
At the beginning of the Season 29 finale of “The Bachelor,” Grant Ellis faced a tough decision.
He had expressed his love for Litia Garr in the previous episode, but it was evident that his feelings for Juliana Pasquarosa ran just as deep.
Here’s a recap of what transpired in the Season 29 finale of “The Bachelor,” beginning with family visits and culminating in a heartfelt proposal.
How did Juliana and Litia fare with Grant’s family?
Both Litia and Juliana met with Grant’s mother, father, and sister. Although Grant’s parents are divorced, they united for this occasion. “It’s essential for me to get input from the people I care about the most,” stated Grant.
Litia’s visit went exceptionally well, as she quickly impressed Grant’s mother, Renee. “I can see the happiness Grant has with her,” she remarked in a confessional.
His sister, who had met Litia during Episode 1 at the Bachelor Mansion, also expressed her approval. “I liked you from Day 1,” she told Litia.
After the visit, Renee was convinced. She felt Litia understood her son and described the experience as a “joy” for her.
“She’s sincere. She truly loves Grant; it’s evident. I would be thrilled to have Litia as my daughter-in-law,” she noted.
As for Juliana, while Renee appreciated her, she fretted that Juliana hadn’t declared her love for Grant yet. “If she hasn’t told you she loves you, I urge you to walk away from it,” she advised.
However, that concern didn’t linger for long. After bidding their farewells, Grant took Juliana aside and confessed his love. She responded, “For a long time, I’ve contemplated what it means to really love you. I think I’m finally starting to understand it after meeting your family—it’s not about a single moment.”
Juliana then expressed her feelings for him, saying she loved him too.
Whom does Grant choose to propose to?
“Never in ‘Bachelor’ history has it come down to the wire like this,” host Jesse Palmer commented as they approached the proposals.
By the final dates, Grant admitted to being in love with both Juliana and Litia—something he had never thought possible.
Facing “the most significant decision” of his life “so far,” Grant spent quality time with each of his remaining ladies. Unfortunately, both dates went splendidly, leaving Grant even more conflicted.
“I feel isolated. I have to make a decision—and it has to be quick. I don’t know what to do,” Grant expressed in a moment of solitude in his hotel room.
Then, his dad stepped in to assist him. “Both women are fantastic,” Grant told his father, feeling immobilized. “What if it doesn’t work out? There’s risk involved with either choice,” he acknowledged.
After selecting the rings, Grant’s final journey began. He dashed into the pouring rain for what could be a historic moment in “Bachelor” lore: a rainy proposal.
Jesse inquired which of the women to call out first, implying Grant was still undecided at the last moment.
Grant’s farewell to Litia
Litia was the first to step out of the limousine. Dressed in a shimmering golden gown, she declared herself “ready to get engaged.” The audience appeared heartbroken as they anticipated what was to unfold. Grant and Litia shared two kisses before he began his speech.
“Litia, I care for you deeply, and I want to give you everything you deserve. But I’m not the right person for you,” he said. Litia appeared taken aback. “My emotional connection is stronger with someone else,” he confessed.
“When did this change?” Litia asked, skepticism written on her face. She confronted Grant when he mentioned he hoped she wouldn’t see him differently. “You’re not the person I thought you were,” she remarked—but then cautioned that Juliana should have “hesitations” considering everything he had told her.
“Come on,” she urged. “The things you kept saying along the way make this decision even more heartbreaking. The shift is unbelievable.”
Grant acknowledged his accountability. “I’m not perfect; I’m doing my best. I genuinely apologize,” he said.
Litia remained firm until the end. “I believe that. I want to make it very clear. I’m confused, heartbroken, and angry,” she stated.
During the “After the Final Rose” special, Litia reiterated her shock at Grant’s promises. “I remember saying farewell to him and thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, we’re getting engaged tomorrow.’ And him replying, ‘I know. I can’t wait. I love you, I love you, I love you,'” she recalled.
She also mentioned that Grant had described her as his “number one emotional connection.”
Litia confronted him again during “After the Final Rose,” accusing him of leading her on.
“As a man, I must take responsibility for my actions,” he admitted.
Litia received enthusiastic applause from the audience by the end of their discussion.
Grant’s proposal to Juliana
Grant lit up when Juliana approached in a sparkling salmon dress. He continued to grin as she made her promises to him.
Juliana professed her love for Grant. “I’ll always be there for you as your partner, friend, and man,” he said, dropping to one knee.
He proposed with an emerald-cut ring, and she joyfully exclaimed, “Yes!”
As revealed during the “After the Final Rose” special, Grant and Juliana are still together.
“The entire journey has felt like a surreal dream. We’ve spent so many months reconnecting. I’m thrilled to go out to dinner with this man,” she expressed.
