Why Eva Mendes Dressed to the Nines for Ryan Gosling’s SNL Appearance
Eva Mendes was excited for Ryan Gosling to give her a shout-out while hosting Saturday Night Live.
Mendes, 52, took to Instagram on Monday, March 9, to share behind-the-scenes clips of her getting ready to support Gosling, 45, during his hosting gig on SNL on Saturday, March 7. In one clip, she showcased a close-up of her voluminous updo, featuring a teased crown and twisted locks at the back, while the remainder of her hair flowed in a chic, messy blowout.
Her makeup was equally stunning, highlighting dewy foundation, perfectly filled-in brows, black eyeliner, and soft pink lips. While cheering for her partner, Mendes donned a black Stella McCartney blouse tucked into straight pants, accessorized with a black leather belt adorned with gold hardware and two-toned hoop earrings.
“My prep for SNL this weekend – in case I was suddenly called out in front of cameras again 😬,” she captioned the post, reminiscing about when Gosling surprised her on an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
In another post, Mendes expressed that watching Gosling host the show was her “all-time favorite episode.”
This came just two days after Gosling paid tribute to Mendes on her birthday while appearing on The Tonight Show. To surprise her, he brought her out on stage and had a marching band perform “Happy Birthday,” with the audience joining in.
“Here’s the thing, you might find me in the Hudson River tomorrow,” Gosling joked about how Mendes might react to the surprise. While cheering for Gosling, she wore a graphic T-shirt, a striped button-up, and blue jeans.
She gave Gosling a kiss on the cheek for his thoughtful gesture.
Mendes and Gosling first met in 2011 on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines. They welcomed their first daughter, Esmeralda, in 2014, followed by their second daughter, Amada, two years later. While their wedding date remains unknown, Mendes referred to Gosling as her “husband” for the first time in 2022 and has a tattoo reading “de Gosling” on her wrist.
