Why Kamie Crawford Departed from Catfish After Six Years as Host
Kamie Crawford shared that “life has been wonderful” since departing from Catfish after six years of hosting the show.
“Since then, I’ve been focusing on my own projects, producing shows and pursuing the things that truly resonate with me, which has been incredible,” Crawford, 32, expressed at Us Weekly + Maidenform’s Reality Star Style Awards party on Tuesday, April 22, at The Highlight Room in NYC. “Additionally, my relationship advice podcast just won a Webby award today, so it’s a monumental day. It’s been fantastic.”
Having left the MTV reality series in October 2024, Crawford felt she had fulfilled her time on the show and was ready to move forward.
“Not many people stay in their roles for six years,” she told Us. “People frequently change jobs, and it was my turn. I had accomplished what I needed to do. I felt very secure about that. I’m extremely proud of everything we’ve achieved with the show, and I believed it was time for me to pursue my own path.”
During her time on Catfish, Crawford worked alongside cohost Nev Schulman, but she mentioned that they “haven’t communicated” since her departure.
“But that’s perfectly fine,” she added. “Life advances, and everyone moves in their own direction. I wish him all the best, and I wish myself the same. … People leave jobs all the time; sometimes their colleagues are at their weddings, and other times they never cross paths again. And that’s part of life.”
In October 2024, Crawford announced her exit from Catfish, a show she joined in 2018.
“After six years of living my absolute dream working on Catfish — one of the most iconic programs in television history — it is with a heavy heart and thoughtful consideration that I have decided to embark on my next adventure,” she stated in a detailed Instagram post at the time. “I take pride in the work we’ve accomplished and the mark I’ve made, and I am eternally grateful to Nev, Critical Content, and MTV for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that fulfills a dream I’ve pursued since I was 19.”
While she has been focused on her podcast and new ventures since Catfish, Crawford is also exploring her personal style.
“I feel like I own a lot of pieces, but not many that coordinate,” she explained to Us. “So I’ve been working on this idea of discovering my personal brand, and I think a large part of it involves tailored blazers. I’m in love with classic key items, putting them together effortlessly, chicly, and timelessly. That’s my aesthetic.”
