Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Spending Valentine’s Day Apart
Valentine’s Day brings love into focus, prompting Meghan Markle to express her affection for Prince Harry through her new Instagram account.
Along with a striking black and white photo capturing Meghan and Harry, both sharing a kiss, the Duchess of Sussex noted that they are apart this Valentine’s Day.
“Back home caring for our little ones, missing my Valentine while he’s at the Invictus Games, making a difference and showcasing the strength and healing of these remarkable veterans and their families,” Meghan shared in her caption on February 14.
Despite the distance, Meghan expressed her overwhelming pride in her husband and all he has accomplished.
Harry, a veteran who has served two tours in Afghanistan, is the visionary behind The Invictus Games. Established in 2014, the Games provide a competitive platform for wounded and ill service members, both active and retired, from around the globe.
Earlier this week, Meghan posted footage of The Invictus Games on Instagram, joining Harry for a few days in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada, where the events are taking place. The Games are slated to conclude on February 16.
“My love, I will enjoy burgers & fries and fish & chips with you for eternity,” Meghan concluded her message. “Thank you for being you.”
Meghan and Harry tied the knot in May 2018 and are parents to two children: a 5-year-old son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor, and a 3-year-old daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten Windsor.
Meghan’s Instagram update follows a post from her in-laws.
In a rare moment of public affection, Kate Middleton and Prince William also honored Valentine’s Day with a sweet photograph.
The image, which appears to have been taken on the same day Kate and her family filmed a video announcing her completion of cancer treatments, shows William kissing Kate’s cheek while she beams at him.
“❤️,” they simply captioned the heartwarming post.
