Will Taylor Swift Take the Stage at the 2026 Super Bowl? Exploring Fan Theories

Taylor Swift has a knack for dropping hints about her projects years ahead of time — but is she leaving breadcrumbs about a Super Bowl performance?

After finishing her Eras Tour in December 2024, Swift has been busy working on her next album. The Life of a Showgirl, which she penned and recorded during breaks between concerts, is set to release on October 3, 2025.

The announcement of Swift’s 12th album has fans speculating whether she will tour or organize a one-off show to perform the new tracks live. There’s arguably no bigger venue than the Super Bowl — especially since Swift is now a dedicated football fan. (She started learning about the game while dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in 2023, even cheering him on during the Super Bowls in 2024 and 2025.)

Super Bowl LX is scheduled for February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco. Neither Apple Music nor Roc Nation, the sponsors of the halftime show, have disclosed the headliner as of yet.

Continue reading for a breakdown of potential clues suggesting Swift might perform at the Super Bowl:

A Clue in Bread

Speculation about a Super Bowl appearance ramped up after Swift’s appearance on Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast in August 2025.

“I have a different baking obsession every six months, and right now, we’re really into sourdough, which has completely taken over my life,” Swift shared. “I’m talking about bread 60 percent of the time now, it’s such a big part of my life.”

Swifties quickly linked the number “60” — matching the year of the Super Bowl — to the type of bread she mentioned.

“Taylor Swift has spent 60% of her time thinking about sourdough? Super Bowl 60 happens at Levi’s Stadium, home of the 49ers,” one user on X noted.

Others pointed out that the San Francisco 49ers’ mascot is named Sourdough Sam, which directly correlates to the bread Swift has recently been baking for her loved ones.

All About Numerology

During her “New Heights” chat, Swift emphasized the significance of numbers. (She’s long been a fan of the number 13.)

“The 49ers will host the 60th Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium,” someone theorized on X. “And 2026 will mark Travis Kelce’s 13th NFL season.”

Later in the podcast, Swift mentioned the number “47” twice.

“Thanks for screaming for, like, 47 seconds for me, that was sweet,” she told Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, about his introduction. She also mentioned visiting “47,000 countries” during her Eras Tour. Notably, she performed at the Niners stadium in July 2023, which was the 47th stop on her tour schedule.

Super Bowl History

While Swift attended the 2024 and 2025 Super Bowls to support the Chiefs’ quest for a “threepeat” victory — the Chiefs won in 2024 but lost in 2025 — she had watched from a distance for years prior.

“I used to go to sporting events just to sing the national anthem; everything was a means to an end for me to perform,” Swift stated on “New Heights” regarding her sports history. “I know every halftime show from the Super Bowls, but I never really watched the games.”

Additionally, fans speculated that Swift “blessed” New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome months before the Chiefs reached the 2025 Super Bowl. While performing her Eras Tour shows in Louisiana, Swift mimicked Travis’ signature first down dance during “Midnight Rain.” In subsequent shows, she pretended to throw a football and act out a touchdown celebration.

A Vast Catalog to Choose From

Super Bowl performers typically showcase a medley of their greatest hits, and now that Swift possesses her entire discography, she can perform any of her tracks — original or Taylor’s Version — live. (In May, Swift revealed she regained ownership of her masters from Shamrock Capital after a lengthy battle.)

“All of the music I’ve ever made now belongs to me,” she shared in a letter on her website. “My dream has always been to work hard enough to eventually purchase my music outright, free of any ties or partnerships, and enjoy complete autonomy.”

Should Swift agree to perform at the Super Bowl, she wouldn’t require outside approval for her setlist, unlike her experience at the 2019 American Music Awards. Furthermore, the NFL championship will occur months after The Life of a Showgirl is released, providing an ideal promotional opportunity.
