A real fashion icon, Yara Shahidi has earned an honorary master’s degree in style — alongside her undergraduate degree from Harvard University.
Shahidi’s formula for a successful outfit is straightforward: Comfort. “Fashion is undoubtedly a means of self-expression,” she revealed to Us Weekly in 2019. “So I continually seek out new pieces that resonate with me, but the ability to feel comfortable is paramount.”
The Grown-ish star applies “the robot test” as a way to assess if an outfit makes the grade. “If I can’t do the robot in my clothes, then I know they don’t work — whether they’re too tight, too loose, too long or too short,” she elaborated.
Shahidi collaborates with stylist Jason Bolden to create “vibrant and experimental” outfits. “You can’t take yourself too seriously, especially on the red carpet,” the actress shared with Us. “I mean, you’re attending a fun event where someone is speaking … it’s not a matter of life and death. It’s a moment to experiment with your style.”
