Everyone enjoys a captivating thriller. From the classic 1960’s Psycho to the recent 2024’s Conclave, suspense films have been capturing audiences for years. Although the genre has faced a downturn recently with fewer theatrical releases compared to its peak in the ‘90s, that decade was a prime era for phenomenal thrillers.

‘The Silence of the Lambs’ (1991)

Regarded as one of the finest horror crime thrillers, The Silence of the Lambs features Jodie Foster as young FBI agent Clarice Starling. She leverages her interviews with incarcerated serial killer and genius psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) to track down the elusive murderer known as Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine).

However, Dr. Lecter seeks to delve into Clarice’s psyche just as she seeks to understand Buffalo Bill, leading to a captivating psychological duel. The Silence of the Lambs stands out as one of the few thrillers to earn the Oscar for Best Picture, marking a rare achievement for the genre.
