4 Must-Watch New Shows to Stream This Fourth of July Weekend

The 4th of July is not just a time to celebrate America; it’s also a fantastic opportunity to explore new TV shows streaming this weekend.

Binge-worthy content is rolling out on platforms like Netflix, Apple TV, and Prime Video, offering engaging series that promise to keep you entertained.

Supergirl may have dulled your interest in superheroes, but Disney+ is reviving the genre with the outstanding X-Men ‘97, returning for a second season brimming with mutant chaos and age-gap shenanigans. (Yes, I’m talking about you, Rogue and Magneto.)

At Watch With Us, we are big fans of Silo, and we’re thrilled to jump back into season 3 to unravel the mystery surrounding Rebecca Ferguson’s character, Juliette Nichols.

While Netflix may have recently lost Gilmore Girls, it now showcases Human Vapor, a quirky sci-fi crime thriller about a killer who, as the title suggests, transforms into vapor.

Speaking of Stars Hollow, where did Lorelai and Rory end up? Prime Video is streaming all seven seasons of the cherished WB classic, so grab some biscotti and brew that coffee to get through all 153 hour-long episodes.

‘Silo’ Season 3 – Apple TV

If you’re not subscribed to Apple TV, you’re missing out on some of the best shows currently available. With series like Widow’s Bay, Cape Fear, and Star City, the content is endless. High on that list is Silo, an exceptional sci-fi drama that showcases Rebecca Ferguson in a rare leading role.

In Silo, Rebecca portrays Juliette Nichols, an engineer based in Silo 18, one of the few underground shelters preserving humanity’s remnants. After a catastrophic event decimated most life on the surface, the remaining survivors reside in ‘silos’, where everyone is presumed to know each other. However, when Juliette’s lover is discovered dead, the official narrative of no foul play raises her suspicions. What’s really happening in Silo 18?

Season 3 unfolds through two timelines: one follows Juliette as she grapples with her memory loss from season 2, while the other reveals the events leading to humanity’s collapse and the establishment of the silos.

‘X-Men ‘97’ Season 2 – Disney+

You would think a revival of a 90s kids’ cartoon wouldn’t be a standout Marvel release after Avengers: Endgame, yet X-Men ‘97 has surprised everyone, garnering praise from fans and critics alike since its 2024 launch. Fans (like myself) are eagerly awaiting what the new season holds.

The wait is finally over, and it is clear that X-Men ‘97 is a timeless superhero epic. In season 2, our heroes find themselves scattered across space and time. Cyclops (Ray Chase), Jean Grey (Jennifer Hale), Storm (Alison Sealy-Smith), Morph (JP Karliak), and Wolverine (Cal Dodd) are trapped in a dystopian future, while Professor X (Ross Marquand) and Magneto (Matthew Waterson) are navigating the distant past. They must confront a formidable new antagonist – Apocalypse (Marquand), rumored to be the first mutant ever.

‘Gilmore Girls’ – Prime Video

While Gilmore Girls isn’t new, having originally aired when I was in high school, it remains a beloved series in the streaming realm, particularly on Netflix, where it maintained strong viewership during its 12-year duration. Now, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) find a new home on Prime Video to continue their beloved banter.

Can you believe it’s been 20 years since the controversial season 6 finale of Gilmore Girls? To celebrate, we’re diving into some intriguing facts about the series’ history. For example, Sherman-Palladino had plans for the final four episodes…

With all seven seasons available on Prime Video, you can join Rory in her questionable life choices, mirroring her mother’s journey. Many consider season 3 to be the pinnacle, but my favorite remains season 5, featuring the dramatic love triangle between Rory, Jess (Milo Ventimiglia), and Dean (Jared Padalecki).

‘Human Vapor’ Season 1 – Netflix

A mysterious figure known as Human Vapor is on the loose in Japan, using a unique method of terror. He boldly announces his victims beforehand, creating a tense countdown to their imminent doom, and executes his deeds live for all to see. What is this Human Vapor (UTA) capable of, and will anyone be able to take him down?

Detective Kenji Okamoto (Shun Oguri) and reporter Kyoko Kono (Yu Aoi) might have an answer. This eight-episode series is a remake of the cult classic The Human Vapor, crafted by Yeon Sang-ho, known for the hit Train to Busan. Expect a thrilling blend of detective work and sci-fi elements, along with an unusual antagonist.
