Collin Gosselin Shares Emotional Message About Being ‘Forced Apart’ from Siblings
Collin Gosselin expressed heartfelt sentiments regarding his strained relationship with his siblings amid ongoing family tensions.
Kate and Jon Gosselin‘s son Collin, now 21, recently took to TikTok to share a message directed at his seven siblings. He posted a nostalgic photo of his younger self alongside his siblings — including twins Mady and Cara, now 24, plus his sextuplet siblings, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Leah, and Joel, all aged 21.
“Born to be a team, us against the world,” he wrote. “Forced to do it alone, and think about what our lives could’ve been.”
Collin highlighted how their time in the public eye impacted their familial bonds, stating, “Forced apart, pitted against each other. All the fame and money in the world, but what about kids being kids?”
He ended his message with: “I will always love them more than anything. The tears I’ve cried behind closed doors, thinking of the moments we could have had. I love you guys.”
In 2007, Collin and his family gained fame with the debut of Jon & Kate Plus 8, which aired for 11 seasons. (Kate, 50, and Jon, 48, welcomed twins Madelyn and Cara in 2000, followed by the sextuplets four years later.)
Following a decade of marriage, Kate and Jon divorced in 2009 and began a custody battle over their children. Jon was the primary guardian for Hannah and Collin until they turned 18 but has been estranged from the other children for several years.
Collin recently accused his mother of “physical aggression” and verbal abuse during his childhood.
“It was tough. I definitely went through a lot as a child due to my mother. I just recall being isolated from my siblings and constantly bearing the consequences of her emotions or the challenges in her life,” he claimed during an interview with The U.S. Sun in October 2024.
Collin alleged that the mistreatment began when he was around eight years old and included being placed in an isolation room “multiple times.” He claimed Kate would “zip-tie my hands and feet together, lock the door, turn off the lights, and monitor me with cameras.”
“I was isolated and separated from my siblings; I didn’t have family dinners,” he recounted. “I spent most of the day in that room after I stopped attending school. I was away from them and rarely went outside.”
Jon corroborated Collin’s account, stating, “My friends’ in-laws bought our house, and they once asked me, ‘Why is there a room in the basement with a bed and a lock on the outside?’ It must have been terrifying for him.”
Kate’s attorney Richard Puleo defended her position through a statement but refrained from commenting on Collin’s allegations.
“She typically avoids commenting because she knows it’s often misinterpreted,” Puleo told Fox News at the time. “She doesn’t want to engage. The facts speak for themselves.”
Along with his emotional social media plea, Collin addressed questions regarding his current relationship with his siblings.
“I just saw [Hannah] today!” he shared in a comment. “She was concerned her car wouldn’t pass inspection, so I checked it out for her. She’s so funny, and I love her [so much]. Seeing her brightens my day, but we’re both tied up with work and school.”
Collin later clarified that he hadn’t resolved his issues with Kate.
“Being locked away, isolated, zip-tied. Being sent away because I didn’t fit into a certain narrative,” he remarked in another comment. “Having one visit from her after being completely cut off at age 12, where she told me I deserved the situation because I ‘destroyed our family.’ I’m sorry, but I will never ‘understand’ that. I’ll break the cycle she couldn’t.”
When asked about his future family plans, Collin added, “I can’t wait to have kids and teach them the value of siblings. I urge all my friends with siblings to cherish one another.”
