Lady Gaga and Jenna Ortega Dazzle in Goth Styles at Wednesday Season 2 Event
Lady Gaga is fully embracing the eerie essence of Wednesday with her latest appearance on the red carpet.
The “Abracadabra” singer joined Wednesday star Jenna Ortega at Guastavino’s in New York City on Thursday, August 28, for a “graveyard gala” hosted by Netflix and Spotify to celebrate the launch of the second part of the show’s second season next week.
Gaga, 39, is set to join the cast of the popular Netflix drama when it returns with new episodes on Wednesday, September 3. The Grammy award winner will portray Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary teacher at Wednesday’s school, Nevermore Academy.
In anticipation of her onscreen debut, Gaga showcased Wednesday’s preferred color — black — at the event, teaming an oversized jester-style hat (highlighted with a touch of green) with a striking corset featuring silver accents, chiffon balloon pants, and platform boots.
Gaga’s makeup for the event was equally bold, featuring a pale complexion complemented by dark lipstick and pink eyeshadow.
Wednesday leading lady Ortega, 22, also embraced the gothic atmosphere of the graveyard gala in a long, tie-dye gray dress reminiscent of cobwebs. The actress styled her dark hair down, opting for a moody wet look that contrasted beautifully with her pale makeup.
The duo also posed for photographs alongside co-stars Emma Myers and Joy Sunday, as Gaga announced the release of her new single, “The Dead Dance,” on Wednesday, September 3 — the same day Wednesday season 2, part 2, launches on Netflix. The track will feature in an upcoming episode of the fantasy series.
“I’m excited to share this song alongside Wednesday. I’m a huge fan of the series and had a blast participating in it to promote ‘The Dead Dance,'” Gaga recently stated to Netflix’s Tudum publication.
Gaga hinted that “the inspiration for ‘The Dead Dance’ came from a breakup, focusing on how a relationship’s end can dim our hope for love.”
“It features an incredibly cool, funky beat underneath. At that point, the song transcends the relationship narrative; it becomes about having a good time with friends after experiencing something tough yet beautiful. I can’t wait for listeners to hear it,” she added.
Ortega shared with the outlet, “If you’re a fan of Wednesday, if you’re a fan of Lady Gaga, you should be very excited to see her in Part 2 — it fits perfectly. She’s extraordinary. She’s one of those rare individuals who is truly in her element. Witnessing her is a surreal experience.”
