Scarlett Johansson’s Back Tattoos Shine at TIFF Red Carpet

Scarlett Johansson‘s back tattoos stole the spotlight as she graced the red carpet for the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of her latest film, Eleanor the Great.

The 40-year-old actress looked stunning in a floor-length blush pink Valentino gown, custom-designed by the house’s new creative director, Alessandro Michele, while promoting her film—which marks her directorial debut—on Monday, September 8.

Her off-the-shoulder dress showcased a ruched bodice, an elegant bow cinching her waist, a flowing train, and a low-cut back that highlighted her ink: a delicate vine adorned with roses wrapping around a baby lamb.

Johansson styled her hair in a top-knot updo, complementing her look with dazzling silver accessories for the TIFF event centered around her film about a woman who moves to New York City after experiencing a “devastating loss,” according to the official synopsis.

The star of Jurassic World Rebirth has at least nine known tattoos, which include a bracelet design featuring Thor’s hammer on her wrist, a sunrise inked on her left arm, and an Avengers logo that she got alongside her co-stars.

Johansson’s former co-star Robert Downey Jr. revealed in 2018 that five of the original six Avengers had gotten tattoos.

“It was Johansson’s idea, and she and [Chris] Evans did it in New York. Then, their New York guy, Josh Lord, who is amazing, flew out to L.A., did me, did [Jeremy] Renner, and we just pressured [Chris] Hemsworth into doing it, and he did. Each of us drew a line on the artist with our own tattoo gun, and it ended up being a total mess,” the actor joked to Entertainment Weekly.

“By the way, he has another one from Scarlett that is beautiful, which is crazy, because the line she drew on him, which was meant to be straight, came out looking like a lightning bolt. It was a disaster,” Downey Jr. added.

Eleanor the Great is set to hit theaters on September 26.
