Former NFL Star Shaun Alexander and Wife Valerie Anticipate Arrival of Their 14th Child
Shaun Alexander has just shared exciting news about his growing family!
The former NFL player, now 48, disclosed during his appearance on Kay Adams’ Up & Adams show on Thursday, September 25, that he and his wife, Valerie Alexander, are anticipating the arrival of their 14th child.
“We’re just starting to inform people,” Shaun said with a broad smile. “But baby number 14 is on the way!”
He mentioned that out of their 13 children, the couple has 10 daughters and three sons but did not reveal the gender of the upcoming child.
This news comes at a significant time for Shaun, who was named one of 128 modern-era candidates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026 on Wednesday, September 24.
During his chat with Adams, 39, Shaun humorously remarked that a Hall of Fame induction alongside a new baby would create a day to remember.
“What a memorable day that would be,” he noted.
Shaun and Valerie, who tied the knot in 2002, are already the proud parents of Heaven, Trinity, Eden, Joseph, Justus, Temple, Honor, Jedidiah, Eternity, Hosanna, Hope, and Judea.
Sadly, their daughter Torah passed away just 70 days after birth in 2017.
Earlier this year, Shaun revealed that he took some of his sons to Green Bay for the 2025 NFL Draft as a special birthday surprise, showing he values quality time with each child despite the size of their family.
“Family is the most underrated unit in the world,” he expressed in a previous Father’s Day message on Instagram. “A father is crucial because he shapes the identity, standards, and direction for everyone in the family.”
News about Alexander’s expanding family quickly caught attention, with fans reacting on X.
“Bro has a whole offense already,” one fan joked.
Another commented, “Bro literally created his own 7-on-7 squad, impressive lol.”
A third added, “This man just can’t stop finding the end zone.”
The light-hearted responses highlight the amazement fans have toward Shaun’s family life, which has become as integral to his legacy as his remarkable football career.
On the field, Alexander made a significant impact during his time with the Seattle Seahawks.
Drafted in 2000, Shaun emerged as one of the NFL’s premier rushers, most notably during his historic 2005 season when he led the league with 1,880 rushing yards and achieved a then-record of 27 rushing touchdowns.
That same year, he earned the titles of league MVP and Offensive Player of the Year.
Throughout his career, Alexander accumulated 9,453 rushing yards, 100 rushing touchdowns, three Pro Bowl selections, and two First-team All-Pro honors.
He was also recognized on the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team, though he has yet to advance past the semifinalist phase in Hall of Fame voting. If chosen, he would be the first running back from the Seahawks to be inducted into Canton.
