Miami QB Carson Beck Opens Up About ‘Challenging’ Breakup with Hanna Cavinder
University of Miami quarterback Carson Beck spoke about the conclusion of his relationship with influencer and former college basketball player Hanna Cavinder.
“You make mistakes as a person, but it hurts to go through something like this with someone you care about, especially when it’s all over the Internet,” Beck, 22, shared with ESPN in a story released on Wednesday, October 1. “Half of what’s portrayed in the media is accurate. The other half isn’t. People choose their sides and run with it. Those who know the truth know what really happened. It’s been tough.”
The couple’s relationship came to light in July 2024, when Cavinder shared a TikTok video celebrating the 4th of July together. Cavinder, 24, later confirmed their relationship via a now-deleted Instagram post a few weeks afterward.
Speculation of a breakup emerged in March 2025 when Cavinder removed all posts mentioning Beck from her Instagram. In April, she publicly acknowledged the split in a video posted on Kai Trump’s YouTube channel, stating she was the one who ended the relationship.
“He would flip off people at the bar, and I’d feel embarrassed,” Cavinder recounted. “So I decided to end things, and suddenly all this cheating drama surfaced. I had no idea. My reasons for the breakup were not tied to cheating; I broke up with him because of his behavior.”
Since their split earlier this year, Beck and Cavinder have not communicated, according to his interview with ESPN.
Beck, who transferred to Miami in January after three seasons at the University of Georgia, noted that public scrutiny regarding his personal life added to an already challenging year, which included elbow surgery and doubts about his performance.
“It’s strange because I’ve always been somewhat introverted, and whether people believe it or not, I’ve tried to remain outside the spotlight,” Beck said. “Often, in my position, that’s hard to achieve because of the intense focus on you. I’ve probably put myself in situations that contradict my efforts to stay out of the limelight, and I acknowledge that.”
His mother, Tracy Beck, shared with ESPN that the negativity surrounding him “has taken a toll.”

Despite the off-field challenges, Carson has rapidly emerged as a leader for the Hurricanes, who are currently ranked No. 3 in the nation. Miami head coach Mario Cristobal commended Beck’s ability to bond with his teammates after a turbulent period at Georgia.
“He is an exceptionally intelligent individual and a strong leader,” Cristobal mentioned to ESPN. “He builds connections with people. He can execute what we aim to do effectively and at a high standard.”
Beck has guided the team to an undefeated start and states that the personal obstacles have led him to reassess himself.
“I’ve come to connect with myself deeper, discover who I truly am, and engage in some introspection,” Beck said. “It’s challenging to say I’m grateful for it all, but I am, because these experiences have shaped the person I am today.”
