Nara Smith Announces Her 2-Year-Old Daughter Is in Remission Following Cancer Treatment
Influencer Nara Smith is providing a hopeful update on her 2-year-old daughter Whimsy’s fight against cancer.
“I wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for all the kind words, messages, prayers, and support,” Smith, 24, mentioned in an Instagram video posted on Friday, July 17. “Your encouragement has truly meant the world to us. [My husband] Lucky [Blue Smith] and I have been navigating this journey and processing it for the last eight months. We even considered whether to share such a personal aspect of our lives.”
Earlier this month, Nara and Lucky, 28, disclosed that Whimsy was diagnosed with cancer. The couple also has a son, Slim, 4, and daughters Rumble, 5, and Fawnie, 9 months. Lucky is the father of another daughter, Gravity, 8, whom he co-parents with ex Stormi Bree Henley.
“We chose to wait until her treatment was complete and we understood the outcome before sharing our experience and even finding the right words,” Nara stated on Friday, referencing Whimsy’s chemotherapy treatment. “Now that she’s in remission, I feel I can finally share.”
Nara explained her decision to share Whimsy’s diagnosis was to “highlight the struggles that many families face privately.”
“Going through [Whimsy’s] chemotherapy treatments has opened my eyes to the exorbitant costs of medical care and its emotional toll on families,” she mentioned. “I’ve been researching charities and foundations to support, and I want to share resources that could help families in need.”
With her emotional video, Nara also showcased website links to various GoFundMe campaigns aimed at assisting other young cancer patients and their families.
“Lucky and I are trying to focus on our everyday lives, taking it one day at a time,” Nara said on Friday. “I’m unsure if things will ever feel normal again, but we’re navigating this new chapter as best we can. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone for their kindness. Sending love to families still facing this battle.”
Since sharing Whimsy’s diagnosis, Nara has been open on social media about the challenges of her daughter’s illness.
“Cancer changes everything, and you start to grieve even the smallest things. The moment I ran my fingers through her hair and it came away in strands was a wake-up call. I realized I wouldn’t be brushing Whimsy’s hair much longer,” she expressed on Instagram on July 7. “These may seem trivial, but they’re not. The tiny curls on her pillow, the hair caught in my fingers post-bath—it all serves as a reminder of how our life has shifted. Witnessing Whimsy lose her hair has been one of the toughest aspects of this journey.”
She continued, “It wasn’t just hair; it was the little curls I tucked behind her ears, the delicate strands that caught the sunlight, and those routine moments I never expected to miss. … Thankfully, her curls are coming back.”
