Sam Asghari Expresses His Best Wishes for Ex-Wife Britney Spears

Sam Asghari has a heartfelt message for his ex-wife, Britney Spears, regarding the “great compliment” she recently shared on social media about their brief marriage.

“Distraction is always a great compliment. And that’s what this next initiative, the MISTR Campaign, is — a major distraction,” Asghari, 31, exclusively told Us Weekly about Spears’, 43, remarks while attending the Blue Carpet Countdown for the First National prEP Day by MISTR on Thursday, October 9.

“And sometimes, you know, we can turn distractions into great things,” he added. “So that’s a positive for me.”

Asghari was previously wed to the pop star from June 9, 2022, until their split on July 20, 2023. The former couple first met in October 2016 on the set of Spears’ “Slumber Party” music video. They made their relationship Instagram official in January 2017 when Spears posted a photo of them together on New Year’s Eve. They got engaged in September 2021, after nearly five years of dating.

Their divorce was finalized in May 2024. In an Instagram post from August, Spears remarked that their marriage “felt like a fake distraction” to help her cope with being “cut off” from her sons Jayden James and Sean Preston during that time.

Since their separation, Spears has been gradually re-establishing her relationship with her sons, three years after being estranged from Jayden, 19, and Preston, 20, as Us reported in September.

“The hardest years of my life were the three years my sons were gone. I couldn’t call or text … my secret to survival was denial and many tears,” Spears shared in part in her August Instagram post.

Asghari expressed his best wishes for Spears, stating, “I just hope for her happiness. And as I’ve mentioned before, I celebrate our past, which is a significant part of me, so I hope everything goes well for her.”

Asghari also conveyed to Us that using his platform to support important causes is “super important,” which is why he is teaming up with MISTR for an upcoming campaign.

“I feel a responsibility to give back to the community that I owe so much to, and honestly, I need the community more than they need me,” Asghari shared with Us. “But teaming up with MISTR — an organization already raising awareness — is exciting. We have a bold, sexy, and significant campaign coming up, so keep an eye out in about 10 or 15 days.”

Asghari is currently in a relationship with Los Angeles real estate agent Brooke Irvine, which he confirmed on Instagram in January, although they had been spotted together since November 2024. Asghari told Us that their relationship has been going “fantastically.”

He mentioned in April that their connection is “not about the industry, it’s not about Hollywood.”

“It’s about what truly matters — being present, living in the moment, and supporting others on the same path,” he added.
